Regarding the last post: it was working for music, but the browser had a terrible lag. Even after restarting after every change and clearing the Emby cache folder, the update only finally appeared when I added and then removed a cover image.

Even after realizing it works, small changes don't update automatically like they do for movies. I have to delete the covers, restart, refresh (F5), and maybe then something shows up.

Anyway, I used Edge; since there was no pre-existing cache there, I was able to see the plugin working.

 

But... Of all these options, only two appear.

 

Tag based still nothing on music, but works on movies

If I clear the cache directly in the browser (Chrome), I can see the test results faster. Why does this matter? Any changes to movies and series show up instantly. So, it seems like music album art behaves differently, and I suspect I know why: movie and series covers are physically stored in a folder, whereas *my* album art is embedded within the .FLAC file itself—added using Mp3tag. That might change how the whole caching process works.

That’s just my hunch.

Emby can not add tags to numbers while you are listening to them for some reason.

If I understood you correctly, yes, the tag gets saved. I’ve gone back and forth, and it’s always there. In fact, I’ve used this tag on other albums as well.

I wasn't listening to the song or the album at the time; everything was turned off.

The tag definitely gets saved. In fact, that same tag works for movies and series, but not on music.

I'll simplify the test: I applied 4 tags to just one album.

The tags don't show up, no matter what I do. If I repeat the process for a movie, the tags appear like magic.

The tag based system is.. Problematic for album covers and will only work for individual music numbers.
In other words, the tag and filename based systems only works for individual music numbers and not the album cover.

A little quirk i need to fix (if possible because of the way Emby works) is that adding the tag to the first number of an album will actually show the tag on the album cover.
I will look into getting tags to work for the album cover but i doubt it is something that can be fixed.

"First number of an album"? What is that? Firts track?

If I understand correctly, then I can't add tags to albums, only to artists? But if I add the tag to the artist, it's pointless, since each artist has albums of varying values, defeating the whole purpose.

ps Meanwhile, yes, 16 and 24 are correctly identified. Everything else you created that doesn't have icons should probably work too.

Oh man, and I really wanted the custom ones.

First track yes, seems that and album shares their poster.
Well you can.. Any tag added to the first track in an album will be shown on the album poster because of said way Emby works.

Understandable, I will see what i can do to work around it but for now it looks grim as i don't know if it's possible to separate those posters or how to do it.

I set something up using the file-based method; I managed to get tags working as long as the info is in the album title. And in most cases, I do have that in the album title. So, it’s doing the job for now.

 

As for Hi-Res—well, any 24-bit song counts as Hi-Res, all 16bit it's cd most cases, so I swapped "bitrate" for "Hi-Res," and it works.

 

It becomes a semi-automated process if you know how to handle filenames.

 

I look forward to the day when customizable ones are available.

Is it possible to add a "watched" checkmark to a collection if all the films in the collection have been watched? Just like with regular films, when you've watched them.

Watched is an Emby feature and not EmbyIcons.
You would have to ask the developers of Emby to improve the feature, sorry.

Is there no way to add a custom "heart.png" replacement?

Im thinking the null prefix is breaking the input for custom icons? That or "heart.png" isnt quite what I need to name it for a favorite counter.

Looks like i messed up the function.
Forgot to add a prefix to the icon name for the plugin to look for so it only uses heart.png and not f.heart.png. There for it only uses the embedded icon and users can't add a custom one.
I will fix it, give me a little while and i will have it fixed sometime later today.

@yockerThanks man, big fan of the plugin so far, nothing else really comes close to the same quality of life features. Since Im already bugging you, would you happen to have an icon template for res sitting around? I jerry-rigged a res.1440p.icon but Ill be the first to say it doesnt look nearly as clean as the built in ones. Yours seem to scale much better. Much love.

The icons built into the plugin are made by the user @Craggles.
If you want to make your own i suggest you make them in a 97x76 scale as that fits the best.

Admittedly i need to clean up the icons in the plugin as some of them i have made my self and the result isn't really what i want.
I'm not a graphics designer in any way.
