IR receiver that works out of box with Acer KWR113201 WMC remote?

Hello,

I found this remote sold as the Acer KWR113201-01B. It has "the green button" with a full keyboard on the back. I also grabbed a WMC receiver labeled as model# OVU400002/00. The Acer remote does not work with this receiver but I have a different WMC remote that is working with it and I also confirmed this Acer remote works using a Flirc receiver. So each device is working.

Does anyone have any experience with this remote? Does it need a specific Acer IR receiver or software package to work? None of the listings I see for the remote are ever sold with an IR receiver so I'm wondering if it was sold with a Media Center PC that had a built in IR receiver. There's a few Acer branded USB receivers on eBay but I don't want to keep throwing money at it. I just liked the size and button layout compared to some of the chunkier remotes.

The receiver looks the same like the original Microsoft one with the Philips chipset (actually a "transceiver", it can also send IR commands). I'm pretty sure that it's an OEM version of it and that it works at least with all MS remotes and IR keyboards.

If it doesn't work with the MS receiver, then I'd say "no" - unless it was an Acer PC.

Yet, that's probably the only way to find out..

I’ve searched around some more— it looks like it might have been included with the Acer Aspire Z5801 AIO released in 2011.

It had a TV tuner built in and I did find a driver file referencing an ITECIR Infrared Receiver. Similar to a NUC?

Not sure I’ll take this any further, cool remote but probably a PITA to get working outside a Flirc receiver.
