heimer82j 0 Posted May 7, 2025 Posted May 7, 2025 (edited) Maybe this is known or reported, but it seems that when using an asterisk at least as the first character of a folder name, it somehow makes Emby ignore local artwork. Maybe this sounds kind of crazy, or maybe not? I stumbled upon today after recently renaming folders to make them easier to find when setting up a new server. And I couldn't for the life of me understand why the local artwork (of all things) wasn't loading. Just to be clear, the asterisk was in the parent folder name, not the individual movie folders. Luke 42077 Posted May 7, 2025 Posted May 7, 2025 Hi there, can you please show a specific example? Thanks.
heimer82j 0 Posted May 7, 2025 Author Posted May 7, 2025 (edited) Absolutely, and unfortunately, it seems I'm still having some problems. So, for example, I have folder named *Test. With the 2 movies. And this is the result. But as I said, I'm still having some issues. For some reason, a random handful of other movies the local artwork is not being used, nor is it grabbing anything, it's just blank like the example above. But these movies have artwork in their folder, and are not in the asterisk folder. Here's 2 that are an example, there are 6 others like this. And I should mention that I tried refreshing metadata, taking the file out the library and re-adding. Also, if it was just 6 files, whatever it wouldn't be big deal, but this is only a small portion of my library that I'm testing to make sure everything is working after I realized the asterisk issue. Anyway, here's the example. They have the artwork files, not sure what's wrong. One other thing, identification is not the issue. It's finding the correct film, cast, etc. Just not adding artwork, mine or otherwise. Edited May 7, 2025 by heimer82j grammar, words
Luke 42077 Posted May 7, 2025 Posted May 7, 2025 Hi there, please attach the Emby server log from when the problem occurred: How to Report a Problem Thanks!
heimer82j 0 Posted May 7, 2025 Author Posted May 7, 2025 embyserver.txt Sorry if this server log is too much, though I only just set up this server a few hours ago. Because I was trying to nail down the first problem, I deleted my old server, then tried installing both arm64 and x64 to see if it made a difference. Also, I just realized in trying the different servers to see if anything would change, I was running the beta arm64 version. Just tried it now with macOS 10.14+ X64 and everything seems to be in order... One other question, I have an M4 Mini, do you feel like performance is dramatically better with the arm64 versus x64? I just kind of like having the icon in the Menu, and it seems to be missing in the ARM version. But honestly, I'm fine with whatever version is best for my machine.
Luke 42077 Posted May 13, 2025 Posted May 13, 2025 You can use the x64 download on an arm64 mac but i think you'll get the best performance using the arm64 version. That's in theory at least. Are you seeing a difference?
