Hello, I just switched to an Apple TV, but I'm having an issue with the Emby app. When I log into my account, everything works fine, but if I exit the app and come back later, it asks me for the password again. It’s not a big deal for me, but it’s inconvenient for the rest of the family. Is there a solution for this? The same thing happens when I enable the PIN code. Thank you for your feedback.

Hi there, have you configured the startup behavior option in the app's settings?

Hi Luke! Thanks for your reply. On the Apple TV app, I set it to show the login screen so we can choose the correct user (either my girlfriend or myself), kind of like how it works on Netflix.

That particular option will always ask for the user to re-authenticate (as you're seeing).

@Lukehas already stated that there needs to be an additional option that remembers logged in users. Any update on this Luke? Android app remains the same also.

Hi, yes that is correct. We will be adding an additional option to it. Thanks.

I don’t have an issue on Apple TV, but it happens on iOS Emby app on my iPhone. Every time if I want to use the Emby app, I have to sign in again even I set remember login password. Weird 🤔

Hi, on my end there’s no problem with that, it stays well connected to my account.

I was just going to make a bug report about this.

The show login screen will reprompt users for their password. We all use a password manager with long passwords. This is not ideal at all.

A good user experience would be akin to Netflix user switching.

I have it set so users are hidden until they login for the first time. Afterwards user switching should be possible while respecting their PIN settings (if set).

We need this functionality for all apps, and it should be the default setting as that is what users expect.

Also, minimizing the app and then opening it again immediately doesn’t go to login screen. You have to wait a while for this to happen. I think the moment the app is minimized it should go back to user selection similar to Plex.

We need defaults that make sense and work as users expect from a streaming service. And yes, I’ve seen devs claim Emby isn’t a streaming service from a technical standpoint in terms of how streaming works under the hood, but for all intents and purposes my users see Emby as a streaming service so it should mimic expected behavior.

@Lukeany update for the login/user switching improvements?   Overall the apple tv is great for an individuals room but in common areas, it’s not very user friendly.

@Luke, should auto login / remember password on the user select screen be available in 2.0.0/1/2?

I thought it was supposed to.  Any detail on how to enable?

i set the option under Display to Show Login screen and a password has to be entered each time a user logs in, whether its the 1st time or the 4th time.

Hi, try changing the option and then setting it back, and then setting if that helps.

When mine does this I remove the app and reinstall. That resolves it until either a TVos update or an App update.

I don’t know what I’m missing here.  I have a fresh Apple TV I just set up for the first time.  I log into emby using my account and password.  I change the startup behavior setting in Display to show login screen.  I then login my other users with their passwords.   When I switch accounts it asks for password.  When I close the app and let it time out, it asks for passwords.

if I choose Remember Last User, it remembers all users password and logs them in

So what am I missing?

Do they have a profile PIN code?

No.  Adding a pin allows it to be bypassed?

Is there similar behavior on Android TV?

How does the Emby web app compare for you?

As far as I can tell it behaves similarly to Android TV.  I set it show login screen and it remembers the password for all users that have previously been logged in, which is what I would prefer for Apple TV.

No change.  Still required to enter a password.  Tried removing the app and reinstalling as well.

Any ideas?   It’s a little frustrating that this is the only client that works this way.
