dialdown 3 Posted May 6, 2025 Posted May 6, 2025 When clicking on an item in the guide that's currently being broadcast, it should just tune to that channel and start playing rather than showing the screen about the show then having to click "play". If while playing a show and I pull up the guide and click on another show that's currently being broadcast, it should just change the channel to that and immediately start playing rather than showing the info page for the show. If the item is for something that's in the future, then it should show the show info page, to facilitate making a recording of the episode or series. That's how all cable set-top box interfaces I have ever used work, so it would make EMBY a better replacement if it worked that way too.

Well, as far as I know, you can just press "play" Instead of "select" or "OK." Of course what client you are using may have a different name for the button. In the web interface the behavior you desire is already implemented so you are, probably, using a client of some kind. Note: Each client (At least almost all of them) have their own sub-forum so this question probably belongs in the correct client forum. I know that pressing "play" on a currently airing show starts that show on my Rokus, my Fire stick and my Shield. Note: The Shield remote I had at first did not have a play button but I paired an older Fire stick remote with my Shield and everything works as I want as the Fire TV has a play button. Also in my Harmony app All Android devices have a "play" button available. In the web app, as I said before, clicking in the guide on a currently airing show behaves just like the play button.
Luke 42078 Posted May 7, 2025 Posted May 7, 2025 Hi, more options to control this are certainly possible. But yes, if your remote control has a play button, then you can use that too.
