Emby Server stuck at splash screen – CustomCssJS plugin issue

Hi everyone,

I’m having trouble starting Emby Server on Windows. It gets stuck on the splash screen and doesn’t load the web interface at all.

After checking the browser console (localhost:8096), I’m getting a 404 error related to CustomCssJS.js:

I suspect this is related to the Custom CSS/JS plugin, which I had previously installed.

Now, Emby won’t even start when I run embyserver.exe. I’ve already tried:

-Deleting browser cache

-Disabling antivirus

-Renaming the plugins folder to plugins_backup

-Deleting the cache and logs folders

Still no luck – Emby doesn’t launch at all anymore.

Any help would be appreciated to:

Completely remove the broken plugin

Recover the server without losing my library and settings

Thanks in advance!

Hi, it must be because there is no file from emby called CustomCssJS.js.

What address is in the browser address bar?

OK I would try the following:

  • Clearing browsing data
  • Deleting all .dll files from C:\Users\maiza\AppData\Roaming\Emby-Server\programdata\plugins, then restarting the server
  • Shutting down the server and installing 4.8.11 again on top of your existing installation.

Please see if any of those help. Thanks.

Looks like you have something blocking the installer from downloading from GitHub. If you can resolve that then that should resolve this.

Alternatively you can download the portable zip from our website and just unzip that on top of your existing install.
