I enter the server address in the Emby app in my Samsung TV, but it does  not connect. Please advise.

Hi there, are you sure you entered the correct address? Where did you get it from? What exactly happens?

I’ve entered the IPv4 address. I get a message saying Error when connecting to server.

Is the TV on the same local network as the server? What version number of the Emby Samsung app do you have? What version number of Emby Server do you have?

The PC is connected to a switch. The TV is connected with a cable directly from the incoming broadband. Should I connect the TV to the switch instead?

Yes, that would be better.  Is the server on the same local network as the switch?

I connected the PC (server) via the switch and now it appears in the Emby app on the TV. However, I now get a message saying that the Emby server needs to be updated. But in the server control panel it says that the server is updated (version 4.8.11.0). I also tried to ”wake up” the server in the Emby app on the TV, but it doesn’t work.

Hi there, please attach the Emby server log from when the problem occurred:

Thanks!

There are some cases where this error message shows incorrectly but the true problem is just a general connection failure. This seems to be the case based on your log because I don't see any incoming traffic from a TV.

Now that you've changed the network connection, I would try doing a new manual connection by entering the server address and see if that helps.

That didn’t work, but I reinstalled Emby server and now it works!
