Media stubs question

Works great with the .disc extension 

I've read in other places that a generic .stub can be used too, and it's implied by some of the words on that page, saying .stub can be used

.stub is not recognised by my server and doesn't import my files. I have nfo files accompanying them but they still don't work. Works great as soon as I change the extension to .disc

Are there other extensions I can use or is it just .disc?

Are there any plans to allow a generic extension like .stub or other with a different message?

For media I intend to watch on another service like Netflix I'm planning on using stub files. Happy if it says insert disc, but it's a bit weird. Would prefer a less specific message.
