Slow Scan media library

Because with the stable version 4.8.11.0, each media library scan took a long time, and I read that the beta version fixed the problem (and it really does), I installed it.

I've been creating my own Collections for years, and I see that the beta version handles folders differently than the stable version.

With the stable version, I can go directly to the movie, but the beta version requires an extra step.

I've attached two movies to better understand what I'm explaining.

Can you modify how it works with some settings to make it work the same as the stable version, or will Emby behave like this from now on?

Regards

Sorry Luke, Which log do you need? From the stable version or the beta? Because I've reverted to the stable version, but if necessary, I'll go back to the beta version to get the log. (It's very easy for me because I have images where I can recover the previous version.)

This is a change in the beta. It makes the folder view more accurate, no?

The increased scanning time was likely (hopefully) a one-time occurrence.

Yes, It makes the folder view more accurate but personally, when I want to view the file structure, I do so from Windows Explorer, but some people might appreciate viewing it from the GUI. I've gone back to the stable version because my clients are used to seeing that collection structure.

My question is if the next stable version will also handle directories this way or if it will only be in beta versions.

I'm sending you the logs from the last Media Library Scan in case you notice anything unusual that could be taking so long. (It used to take about half an hour, but with this version, it's around 1.30 hours.)

Yes it will. I think what we can do is figure out a way to automatically jump through the layer when a folder only has one item in it. Similar to how some file browsers do.

I don't see anything obvious. Unrelated thing though that you might want to correct. You have a series in your library with a tvdb id that has a trailing space at the end:

2025-05-01 17:44:43.119 Info HttpClient: GET https://api4.thetvdb.com/v4/series/73756 /extended?meta=translations&short=false
2025-05-01 17:44:43.298 Error ProviderManager: TvdbSeasonImageProvider failed in GetImageInfos for type Season

When you get the 4.9 update, the scanning will change to be like this however it will also have the new display option to jump through the layer.
