LunaticXJ 1 Posted April 30, 2025 Posted April 30, 2025 Which field is used to sort the files in the latest media list on the homepage? After creating a media library and importing all videos, the order of files displayed in the latest media list on the homepage appears random (since the import order cannot be controlled). I want the initial display order to be sorted by premiere date. Therefore, I tried editing the metadata to change the created date of a movie to the most recent day to see if it would change its position in the latest media list (to appear first), but it didn’t work.

Behavior for Date added for new content ("Date scanned into library" or "File creation date") depends on your setting in Library>Advanced tab. 23 minutes ago, LunaticXJ said: I want the initial display order to be sorted by premiere date. You cannot control that behavior in "Latest" Home Screen rows currently (save manual edits), but there is "Recently Released" Home Screen row which should give you what you're after. There is also Time Lord plugin in the Catalogue which would overwrite your item "Date added" with its "Release date", effectively giving you desired result - but that change is irreversible, i.e. you cannot revert item's original "Date added" without removing/reimporting same item again. I'm still puzzled: since the recent list is sorted by added date, why doesn't manually editing the added date in the metadata work, while it does through the plugins? What's the difference? Initially, I planned to test if manually changing the added date is viable, then use the API to batch update the added dates (createDate) of movies in the media library to their release dates(premiereDate). Is this approach not feasible, or do I need to do some additional work?

Is it a Movies or TV Shows "Latest" row you're trying to adjust? If latter, you need to edit each episode "Date Added" field, as TV Shows-content type libraries "Latest" Home Screen rows are sorted by "Last Episode Date Added", not "Date Added" of TV Show itself. LunaticXJ 1 Posted April 30, 2025 Author Posted April 30, 2025 The "Recently Released" row on the home screen only displays movies and does not show newly released TV shows. So, I still want to manually modify the addition date of a movie or TV show in the recent list to verify if the order changes, but after making the change, the order remains unchanged.

"Recently Released" row goes by Release Date. "Latest" rows go by Date Added.
LunaticXJ 1 Posted April 30, 2025 Author Posted April 30, 2025 Sorry, there was an issue with my translation. I meant to discuss the "Latest" row, not the "Recently Released" row.

LunaticXJ 1 Posted April 30, 2025 Author Posted April 30, 2025 Okay, I understand, thank you very much. I was modifying a TV series, so it didn’t work; movies are fine.
LunaticXJ 1 Posted May 2, 2025 Author Posted May 2, 2025 Hello, I updated the "DateCreated" field for all movies and episodes to their "PremiereDate" via the API. The sorting of the "Latest" row for movies changed as expected, and the sorting for TV Shows also changed, but it didn’t achieve the desired effect. Some very old TV shows are appearing at the front of the "Latest" row. Most of these anomalous TV shows have multiple versions of episodes (though not all). I’m not sure if this is related. Besides updating all episodes, do I need to do any additional work?
LunaticXJ 1 Posted May 2, 2025 Author Posted May 2, 2025 Hello, how do multi-version sets affect the sorting of TV series, and what should I do to achieve the desired effect?

Does that answer your question?
LunaticXJ 1 Posted May 19, 2025 Author Posted May 19, 2025 Thank you, but I still don't quite understand what you mean. I've already updated the date for all episodes by calling the API, but it didn't achieve the desired effect. What operation are you referring to when you say check any of them?
