EmbyLearner 3 Posted April 27, 2025 Posted April 27, 2025 Installed Emby from the Windows Store thinking that since it was now the "only" version available it would have all the features merged into the one App. Quickly discovered that the External Player feature was never included and was not added before decommissioning the other version. (Please help those thousands of us with DVD and BluRay collections that need it by staying on the Emby team to reintroduce the External Player ASAP in the EARLIEST POSSIBLE RELEASE). Learned that the "old" version was available on GitHub so I installed it. Set up External Player and was willing to wait for the update, however, when I went to uninstall I realized that neither of the 2 versions shows up as Emby in the Programs and Features list to uninstall it. Used the right click feature to uninstall the Windows store version but the "old" version from GitHub did not give me a desktop icon or shortcut to open it! I have to use the Emby.theatre.exe to open then the run command box appears to run it. Went to uninstall the "old" GitHub version to fix this and discovered that it does not appear in Programs and Features to uninstall. Went back to the GitHub folder to use the uninstaller there and gives a message: Please use "programs and features" to uninstall". So I am stuck in this circle trying to uninstall the GitHub "old" version. Don't want to (nor have the skill to) hack around in the registry. Can anyone help. I simply want to uninstall Emby Theatre GitHub "old version and reinstall it to get the proper shortcuts and launching capability. The program works fine once I jump through the hoops to open it so I am open to a workaround as to how to create or find a shortcut that will allow me to launch the program without it going through the "run" dialog box (which tries to install the program first before opening it. I'm sure I'm doing or have done something wrong here or there is a simple solution to fix this, however, my level of intelligence is apparently below that of simple. Any help is appreciated Kevin

You just downloaded the zip file from github, unzipped it, and ran EmbyTheater.exe. To remove it, you can just delete what you downloaded. Does that help answer your question?
Mahinepua 81 Posted April 30, 2025 Posted April 30, 2025 Hi Luke how can the old version be installed properly? Is there an installer on github or in the zip file?

The easiest thing to do is just do what this user did here. So download, unzip and run: https://github.com/MediaBrowser/emby-theater-windows/releases/tag/3.0.20
