markzzzhome 1 Posted April 27, 2025 Posted April 27, 2025 Hi, I'm not able to link a specific item on my library to a records on themoviedb. Is there a way to force/indicate to emby which item to link? I've tried any name/rename of folders/files, but I'm not able to catch the right one. Thanks

darkassassin07 652 Posted April 27, 2025 Posted April 27, 2025 To ensure matching to a moviedb item, it's best to use the naming format: Name (Year) [tmdbid=xxxx]/Name (Year).ext https://emby.media/support/articles/Movie-Naming.html You will also need to ensure TheMovieDB is enabled as a metadata downloader for the desired library if you want it to grab metadata from there.

Wow, pretty impressive. Using "M - Il Figlio Del Secolo (2025) [tmdbid=212333]" as folder's name in file system seems to works. Question: is it possible to put the same "tmdbid" on files? Because its not so "nice" have those kind of id on my folder's tree hehe Edited April 27, 2025 by markzzzhome
darkassassin07 652 Posted April 27, 2025 Posted April 27, 2025 Yup, you can put it in either one or both if you'd like.

It seems that if I name the folder as Cosmos - Odissea Nello Spazio (2014) [tmdbid=58474], it works. But if I leave the folder as Cosmos - Odissea Nello Spazio and I append on each file within the folder the prefix Cosmos - Odissea Nello Spazio (2014) [tmdbid=58474] - it doesnt. Why?
darkassassin07 652 Posted April 27, 2025 Posted April 27, 2025 Based on the linked article about naming conventions; that should work. If it's not, a developer will have to comment on that aspect. I would recommend posting a server log for them to look at as well. Put the ID in the file name, but not the folder name. Scan the library for changes, then grab the anonymized log from the server dashboard.

Happy2Play 9780 Posted April 27, 2025 Posted April 27, 2025 Theoretically Emby will not use filenames at all except for in a flat file structure. But have not done any retesting on this. But should be easy enough to see renaming folders to see the provider queries.
