Roku When/if Internet Goes out

Is there anything I need to do on the server end (in my case, windows) and using roku ultras to only stream locally here at home to ensure that when/if the internet goes out, Emby will still work? I'm only asking because as an old Plex user, there were a couple of things I had to do... from the Plex/Roku settings and the Plex server settings... I had to list all IP's to work without auth... and on roku I had to go to the plex app, then settings, then select "allow without auth on same network"...  I did try searching beforehand and did see users say that they never had issues with Emby working for them when/if the net went out... but I ran into some that did.. So I don't know.

Can you clarify on the Emby server settings under network... should I list the IP's or leave blank?

Also... remote connections is turned OFF since we only stream locally...  I have no clue if that matters.

Thanks

Emby doesn't use remote authentication except if you are using Connect, which is most useful for remote connections anyway.  In any case, you can specify that logins are remembered.

Premiere features (if you use them) require validation by a callback to Emby, but the result should be cached for about a week - so for "ordinary" outages this shouldn't be an issue.

Hi.  The one thing I'm not completely sure of is how the Roku itself will behave with no internet so you may want to test that.

it behaved totally fine with no internet with Plex (like I said with the couple of steps I had to do to make it work).. so I'm THINKING this will be the same. I hope so

The Roku will have a blinking light on it when there is no internet. The Emby Roku app will work without issue, other than LiveTV access which requires periodic verifying of device limits and Emby premiere server entitlement. The app will cache the verification for a couple weeks. After that period you would lose access to LiveTV since it can longer verify authentication over the internet. There may be a popup from Roku themselves when launching the Emby app that it might require internet for some functionality. Might because some plugins are internet based and any content streamed through them would require an internet connection. But the Emby Roku app will function just fine without internet other than that. You do not need to do anything special for Emby.

I remember when I first setup the server and then went to my roku ultra...got the app, went on emby with the admin server name I had just created.... then I went to the other roku ultra to do the same, and it wanted me to log in with email. I was SO confused because during setup it didn't ask me for an email...so I logged in manually with that Roku... then I read where I should not use the admin server on a user account but to keep that hidden... so I created two users and asked Emby and disabled media deletion on both of them. Then went back to the roku and logged them in with their new user and did the same on mine... so I'm pretty sure Emby connect isn't being used... But I did create an account and linked it to the server..(I guess - the part where it asks you to link an email.
