Custom Ratings disappear

I've been having this issue for awhile.  I started using Custom Ratings to manually allow specific movies to rated low enough to show up on the Kids account (like the Marvel movies), or higher to hide boring stuff (like The Andromeda Strain, rated G).  They all disappear at once.  It seems to happen when I update to a new Emby version.  I recently updated to 4.8.11.0, and it dumped all my custom ratings again.  I'll capture my logs the next time I run an update and verify if that is when it occurs.

This was also mentioned in Parental Controls: Media disappears when meta data changes - Asustor - Emby Community  That issue was marked as resolved, but I think it was not actually solved, just maybe misunderstood by the original poster.

HI, can you catch it in the act of happening? Do your movies have nfo files next to them?

The issue occurs with my Movie and TV libraries.  None of my Movies have nfo files.  Most of my TV series do not either, there are some that are still there, but the last was created in 2014.

Hi.  If you enable the option to save to NFO this will probably stop happening.  Any time you wish to customize metadata, we suggest you save to NFO files so that those customizations can travel with the media and not get lost.

Ok, I'll try that.  Waaaaay back in the day I had some issues with NFO not being updated when entered through the UI and I would lose changes, so I stopped using them.  I'll give that a go!

Even without nfo you shouldn’t lose the data, so if you can get it to happen again then we should be able to track it down.
