Adjust remote Live TV streaming quality only - Feature Request

Hi there!

I'm new to this whole thing with Emby, so please accept my apology if I say something incorrect or there is a way around this already but I'm just looking to find a solution to a Live TV issue I'm facing.

The Live TV part of Emby appears to give me significant issues on certain devices (Android and Fire TV devices notably. Samsung App and Xbox app for example work fine) where the channel will straight up refuse to load, attempting to and then giving me a blank screen, showing the channel etc and displaying the PG rating but not actually displaying any content. The dashboard also confirms this as nothing is displayed when attempted to play on these devices.

From reading other posts in this form I've found a fix by limiting the remote quality setting to force a full transcode. But doing this then also downgrades the quality of Movies and TV Shows which would normally direct play at a higher resolution.

For context I'm using NextPVR for my Live TV streams coming direct from my aerial using my USB TV Tuner. This is being fed to Emby using an M3U link from NextPVR. These streams come in using that Freeview MPEG standard, and I've noticed to get these to successfully play ball with the devices I've had issues with I've had to force the streaming quality to play at 720p 1Mbps so a full transcode will begin. Anything above 1Mbps causes the above issues to appear again.

If there was a way to pick and choose, telling Emby to limit Live TV remote streaming quality to 720p 1mbps and keeping my media at auto remote streaming quality that would be great! :)

Hi there, let's look at an example. Please attach the information requested in how to report a media playback issue. Thanks!

No problem! I have tried to be as useful as possible and capture every main data point.

I have attached multiple sets of logs and tried to name them correctly to help you identify which is what. For both the quality limited testing and auto quality setting I have attached logs directly from the server PC as today the auto setting did work! (It seems to be weirdly hit or miss as this isn't the first time it's magically started functioning) However there was a heavy delay in it starting up with no indication that anything was loading. My internet connection is fairly quick so I'm slightly stumped as to what the delay is, although maybe the logs will identify that.

Ideally I just hope these logs can give some idea as to what the difference between auto and limited is for me and why they massively vary in getting a successful stream. Even if it ends up being something I can resolve that would be great! I would just like to make it stable.

The device used in this current test scenario is an Android phone (Moto G85 5G) but the result is identical to an Amazon Fire Stick (Although I have yet to apply the fix that keeps things stable there as it's not immediately accessible to me.

One thing I have also noticed is the specific channel I tested didn't appear to transcode on this device, that also appears to differ slightly based on device as I noticed that on the Fire Stick. I'll try and get access to the Fire Stick today to grab those logs too. As it appears that may be giving me a slightly different response as I noticed my testing on the Fire Stick was 100% utilizing Intel QuickSync.
