Auto Scanning of Newly Added Media

Recommended Posts

Posted

Hi guys,

I'm finding that when new media is added, it's not automatically being discovered, this was working at the beginning after server setup etc, but the last few days I've been having to manually start as can, even waited 4 odd hours to see if it would find the new files.

I've attached my recent log here and I do see there is some error popping up just no idea what the issue is :D
Can you please help :)

Best,
Conroy

Where is your media stored? Is that a NAS?

Hi Grim,

Yea! my NAS box, a Netgear.

As visible from your log snippet above, Emby is not being able to access that network path:

The specified network name is no longer available

Have you changed its name recently? Can you access it from Windows? What about accessing it by IP?

You can also mount that network storage as local drive - though pay attention not to start Emby server prior drive being mounted on system restart/reboot.

Hi Grim thanks for your reply.
So my other apps like overseer, plex(ew), radarr etc, can all access it.

I can access the nas using my ip or ddns.
And manual scans work fine.

The name if it has been the same for around 8 years or so, never been changed since I set it up.

One thing I will say is usually the C in Conroy is capitalised, wonder if it could be that?

Just a note - I re-added the directories with the Capital C, grabbed media and let it do it's thing and it's noticed the file really quickly.
I'll see how this goes and keep an eye on and reply back with findings!

I've also attached my new log for you to look at :)

Appreciate your help.

You can observe how it behaves going forward and advise if it start failing again.

As a sidenote, file:

\\conroymedia\media\movies\Made in Britain (1982)\Made in Britain 1982 Bluray-1080p.mkv

is throwing a lot of timing errors, you might want to remove that file, scan media library, put it back, scan again, see how does that compare?

So far so good, I've removed that file also.
I've not done a system restart yet, but I've restarted Emby multiple times due to changes plugins etc, and it's picked up everything new from last night and this morning, so appears to be working now.

Will keep eyes on here for updates on the stuff you asked of the other forum member :)

It means the timestamp of the file is something that windows doesn't support. You see it sometimes with network shares on a linux machine or nas. The server will just use the current time as the date added when this happens.
