Luke, if this is the wrong subcategory, I'm sorry. Feel free to move it 😃

What I'm trying to do is enable sleep on my Windows 11 Emby server.  The WOL is what I'm having trouble with.

I have FireTV devices local and away, and LibreElec running on my main entertainment center at home.

WOL is enabled on the server and I have sent magic packets from my iphone using a WOL app and it will wake no problem, BUT if I open the Emby iphone app, it will not wake it.  This is the initial test on the LAN where it's manually configured to the server IP and the default port.  Nothing

I have also tested from a firestick on the kitchen TV configured the same way as above and that won't wake it either.

Part two is getting it to work if I'm on vacation with a firestick through the Cloudflare connection back to the server, but let's make it work locally first.

Obviously I don't want it to sleep is something is playing on a client, but say 30 mins after I do.  I assume I just set lets say 30 minute timeout in Windows and Emby will handle the keep awake until then?  That's probably a question for later too, but there it is.

Thanks!

Hi, how did you try to wake the server using the Emby iphone app?

Posted

All I did was open the app and let it try to connect to the server.  After saying it was unavailable, I tapped it again for good measure.   I believe I read in the forum that it would automatically send a magic packet, but maybe I'm wrong?

Did you try using the WOL function on the server selection screen?

No, because there isn’t one

Have you explored the long press context menu for a server?

Didn’t know that was there, Luke. That worked. Thanks!

Now, what do I do about the FireTVs?

What app version do you have ?

2.1.26a

BUT

that question prompted me to look in the app store.  I found and installed 3.4.36 which does have the option like the iphone app and does seem to send a magic packet automatically.  I'll experiment a bit more today and confirm
