Apple silver remote control with mac mini

I only found one forum post that talked about IR silver remotes and it's from 2019–if this has been asked and answered elsewhere, apologies to everyone.

Is there any way to get an IR silver remote to work with Emby? I have searched the dashboard, the settings, the server settings and anywhere else I can think of and there's nothing about this particular remote. I have installed Emby, connected to the server, and tried to simply run through the menus with the remote, but Emby does not respond except to keyboard and mouse input (and it's not good with the keyboard, honestly). Is there an add on or some way to tweak the settings and get the remote to work?

This is running on a 2014 mac mini with osx 12.7.6 (monteray—machine still has IR reception) If it's a waste of my time, I'll have to stick to Kodi, as my 90 year old dad is NOT going to learn a new device at this point. However, if there’s a way to get it to work, I would love to know about it.

You do not need a remote to handle the server unless you actually use the server also as a client. If that is what you do the any remote that works with Windows will, as far as I know, work fine with Emby.
I do know, because I tested it, that all my Windows computers need is a USB IR receiver plugged in and it works fine. I do not use any computer as a client as it is just a LOT of over kill. 

I also believe that in general computers do not make good clients.

Hi, if your primary input method is a remote then try enabling TV display mode in the app display settings. Please let us know if this helps. Thanks.
