Wait? I have to get premium to stream my media on IOS?

I'm soo confused and shocked... Keep in mind, I spent the last 2 days setting up my Emby media server after having used Plex for a long time... I personally don't use IOS, I use Roku (no issues)

My family member uses their Ipad... we got the Emby app and we logged into the server with their user name...We can't play ANYTHING from my server without getting the pop up that we have to subscribe to premium? Is this true? I just want to make sure I'm not doing something wrong because that seems wild to me. Before I posted this I searched and found different answers so I decided to post here. Thanks

Yes, the installable apps for IOS/Android mobile require premier for playback. They can be used as remote controls for free.

You can also use the web app on mobile (a regular web browser).

OK... My brain is trying to process that. I understand not having access to things without being a premium member, but I thought being able to playback your own media was basic and free... no matter what app/OS you use.

Hi.  The same screen that is offering for you to purchase Premiere should also have an "Unlock app" button.  That will enable playback only (no other Premiere features) on that device.

Oh I see what you mean now... I didn't even notice that when I saw that screen... so that's permenant for that app on that phone or ipad? Thank you
