How to create a custom library

apologies if this has been asked already, if so just tell me what to search and I'll find it.

My movies and TV shows are working great thank you. However I have an educational folder that is like this:

edu\

        knitting\lesson0.avi

                      \lesson1.avi

        sewing\lesson0.avi

                      \lesson1.avi

I wanted to create a new library in Emby that simply follows this structure, so I can navigate to the things I want. Instead, the Emby Library looks like this:

edu\ { file1, file2, file98, someotherifle, abcd385....}

there is no neat organizational structure to it. How do I override this and make it neat? I don't want it to try to figure out the metadata, the files are unique enough that they aren't discoverable. I just want to use the filesystem (on this folder only) like a dlna server. On the web UI there is an easy way to do this, but on my Tizen TV there isn't (or I don't see it). Can I just make my own hierarchy somehow and add what I want to it?  thanks

Hi, what content type did you setup the library with? I would suggest home videos for this.

...and then browse it using the "Folders" tab and you should get what you want.

@Lukethanks for the quick reply. I initially tried "TV shows" but I just tried again as home videos and the default view is still wrecked. Here is a snipped of the tree on the filesystem:

Edu/
├── AI
│   ├── Complete Data Science & Machine Learning Bootcamp
│   │   ├── 1. Introduction to the Course
│   │   │   ├── 1. What is Machine Learning.mp4
│   │   │   ├── 1. What is Machine Learning.vtt
│   │   │   ├── 2. What is Data Science.mp4
│   │   │   ├── 2. What is Data Science.vtt
│   │   │   ├── 3. Download the Syllabus.html
│   │   │   ├── 3.1 ML Data Science Syllabus.pdf.pdf

but  when I view it using the web UI (not using folders) it flattens everything, and there's so much content in flattened-order that its not navigable.

Maybe what I am requesting is a feature that allows you to build out the folders in a custom way? It would be pretty simple for me to replicate the folders structure if I had the ability to.

@ebr thanks I dont have a folders tab on Tizen. However, I haven't updated the Tizen app since probably october '23 (because it was such a PITA) so maybe thats the issue? My only options at the top are Home and Favorites.

it's not a big deal, I appreciate both you responding.

Hi there, what exactly makes you think the default view is "wrecked"? Can you please show an example of what you mean? Thanks.

You just make your physical folders how you want them and then use the Folders view.

When you are inside of a library, you don't have a "Folders" tab?

ok so I'm an idiot. folders view IS there , on my newly created Edu folder, which I created as being family videos instead of TV series. maybe folders was there the whole time and I just got distracted on the main view. This is resolved, thank you and sorry for wasting your time. @LukeI attached a screenshot to answer your question. I shouldn't have said "wrecked" without describing it, just like saying "it doesn't work", I should know better as a programmer myself haha. as you can see, it sorts every single subfolder into an alphabetized single list. with 10k items that doesn't work haha. Somehow this view was showing up on Tizen and I either didn't see "Folders", it was hidden,  or it was right in front of me and I tried to solve it the wrong way (by editing Libraries in the control center). It is working now, thanks both of you image.thumb.png.c6bc0cdda9a57318602c8937945958dd.png
