Is this likely to impact existing Fire devices?

This link is a bit concerning for me:
Amazon’s Fire TV is Ditching Android TV & Switching to In-House Vega OS

My reading is that it is new devices that will be affected but I was wondering if this is a problem for Emby on existing Fire devices. But it is concerning when a device i use is even potentially going to use a different OS.

Also does this potentially mean additional complexities for Emby in supporting another OS? Inquiring minds want to know. ;)

Doesn't look to update current devices but if I were you, I'd go with GoogleTV on all future devices. IDK for sure but I think it would be something that can be compiled from the original code with some minor tweaks made but am not sure.

That's old news which unfortunately hasn't happened yet.

But the date on the article is April 17, 2025. How would I know or even expect that it is old news?
Also, "Unfortunately?" Is Vega really that much better an OS for Emby on the Fire?

They announced it a couple years ago but it has taken a long time to get moving. So this article doesn't really cover that.

I think it has the potential to be a higher performing OS.
