OneDayAfterAnot 0 Posted April 17, 2025 Posted April 17, 2025 New to Emby. Been Plex user since 2015. Today I was playing around with Emby trying to get a feel for it... I like it... Here's my main question: I have a windows computer with Plex server on it sitting quitely in a room just being a server. Everything I have direct plays with no transcoding. We never watch plex remotely.. Just here at home. I want to put Emby on this same computer to see how I like it while still leaving Plex (at least for a little while) I just mainly want to know if I did this would there be any conflicts? I played around with Emby today on my laptop and it seemed to work well...everything I tried direct played and I'm relatively sure 99.99 % of everything I have will direct play via roku since most of my media is x264 and x265 I just don't want to completely remove Plex YET... Sorry if this is a noob question.

There shouldn't be any, they use different ports by default and generally stay out of each other's way.
OneDayAfterAnot 0 Posted April 17, 2025 Author Posted April 17, 2025 doing it now... seems to be working... loading metadata... but I'm running into something. Picture it: 3 drives... each drives has a TV show folder with perfectly named /structured folders... when I created the first TV show library with drive #1... When it comes to adding drive #2 and drive #3 tv show folders, do I just do a new library and it automatically merge them with the original tv show library?
Neminem 1518 Posted April 17, 2025 Posted April 17, 2025 You can add extra folder / drives to the same library 1
scharbag 19 Posted April 17, 2025 Posted April 17, 2025 Enjoy Emby - all my buddies use Plex so I tried it... I came running back to Emby!!
OneDayAfterAnot 0 Posted April 17, 2025 Author Posted April 17, 2025 (edited) Yeah I figured it out. from the server you have to go to the TV shows folder and click EDIT then add the other TV shows folders that are on other drives.... I really HOPE this still works when/if there's an internet outage. I remember I had to configure my plex server and Roku Player to be able to do that... but I read somewhere that's not necessary on Emby.. I hope not. The thing I hate is trying to figure out the "little things" here and there... On Plex, my remote access was always disabled because we only used Plex locally.. I'm assuming that's the same for Emby? pwhodges 2012 Posted April 17, 2025 Posted April 17, 2025 If you don't enable and configure remote access in Emby, then by default it won't be active. Paul
OneDayAfterAnot 0 Posted April 17, 2025 Author Posted April 17, 2025 Yes remote connections is disabled....I noticed under secure connections it shows disabled...
