Dr. Technolust 5 Posted April 15, 2025 Posted April 15, 2025 Recently installed the latest version of Emby for android on my Nvidia Shield Pro. Played a Dolby Atmos movie and when I exit the the screen goes black, I can hear the movie still playing. So I would have to unplug the Shield to return to normal operation. I have a 4k Hicense Tv, Samsung 990 Soundbar.

Double pressed the filled in circle next to the play button "Home button" on the Shield remote. This button also brings up the menu to close specific or all apps. FrostByte 5392 Posted April 18, 2025 Posted April 18, 2025 No, mine does what I would expect on Android when clicking the Home button. Server 4.9.0.48 App 3.4.56 Shield 2019 Pro Clicking the Home button twice brings me to the most recently played apps list and the movie playing in the PiP window. Clicking the Emby icon brings me back to Emby again with the movie playing in full screen. The background is black. Clicking the Home button once brings me to the Android Home screen with the movie playing PiP. Here again clicking the Emby icon brings me back to normal playback.
FrostByte 5392 Posted April 18, 2025 Posted April 18, 2025 Clicking the Back/Return button exits the most recently played list and brings me to the Android home screen. At that point I can also restart the Emby app and stop play.

jh30uk 5 Posted April 20, 2025 Posted April 20, 2025 This happens to me also a lot on the new App but not on the older TV App (all updated to latest on a Nvidia Shield). Even when I start up it can at times play a video in the background (no video on screen even minimised only audio). I have looked through every single setting and double checked them.

jh30uk 5 Posted April 20, 2025 Posted April 20, 2025 I also have had the little PIP Windows (not sure what I pressed to cause it) but pressing a button (again not sure which one) makes it full screen again so nor a big deal. I know this App is new and expect issues, so long as some day they are fixed as in some ways it is better then the TV App in others not so much.

I have toggled PIP off for Emby Settings > Apps > Special App Permissions > Picture-in-Picture It now functions as expected when going into the multi-app menu to exit. I don't use PIP for anything on any of my Shields so this works for me. 1 1 1
rdhardi 42 Posted June 15, 2025 Posted June 15, 2025 (edited) I noticed this issue today. Turning off PIP for Emby works for me too, workng as expected now. Just posting an FYI that this is still an issue on Emby for Android 3.4.72, Server 4.8.11.0, Shield 2019 Pro. ETA: Before I disabled PIP, it would show the PIP in the lower right of the screen and also 2 dialouge popups in the middle of the screen that I had to click to make it all go away. The popups showed the live tv channel name and channel # with options to open or stop (on 1 popup) and options for details or dismiss (on the 2nd popup). Also, the 2 popups were flickering back & forth...one would be in focus then the second one would be in focus, back & forth until I clicked on one. Pretty weird, never saw that before!
