vmcosco 24 Posted April 14, 2025 Posted April 14, 2025 I recently moved Emby from running in Windows to running in Docker on Ubuntu Server. I did define the user and group in my docker compose. Media is still hosted on a Windows machine so it is mounted via CIFS and FSTAB. Everything is working as expected: Emby can see all of the media files, Emby can write metadata and image files to the media folders, etc. The only issue is that Emby is not picking up new files/media when it is created. For example, two new episode files were created last night at 9:35 PM and 11:20 PM. They did not get added to Emby until the scheduled libraty scan at 1:30 AM. Is real time monitoring not possible with my setup? Permissions seem correct because everything else is working.
Luke 42077 Posted April 14, 2025 Posted April 14, 2025 HI there, can you please provide a specific example? How to Report a Problem Thanks !
vmcosco 24 Posted April 14, 2025 Author Posted April 14, 2025 A new media file was added to the directory of an existing show last night at 9:35PM. There is no evidence of this in the Emby log. I have real time monitoring enabled for the Library that includes the directory. The expectation is that when this file was added, Emby would detect the new file and add the episode to the library. However, the new episode was not added to Emby until 1:26AM which is when the scheduled task for Scan Media Library ran and shows as such in the log.
Happy2Play 9780 Posted April 14, 2025 Posted April 14, 2025 Will need to see server log for specific example but could server not getting the events per the setup. But someone else or dev will have to comment on that part. 2 hours ago, vmcosco said: Media is still hosted on a Windows machine so it is mounted via CIFS and FSTAB.
Solution darkassassin07 652 Posted April 14, 2025 Solution Posted April 14, 2025 CIFS/NFS doesn't support realtime monitoring. Gonna have to use scheduled library scans. (I've got this setup too)

When the scheduled scans run they only take about 1 minute.
darkassassin07 652 Posted April 14, 2025 Posted April 14, 2025 Every 3 hrs. I want newly added media to be picked up reasonably quickly, but don't want it running super frequently. Probably doesn't really matter all that much tbh.
