Backdrop, fan art, url files Oh My!

Hello everyone.  I am sure that this question is answered in the forums, but no matter where I search I am not getting results that help me.  I think that this is because there isn't a "right" way to do this so looking for someone to point me in the right direction.

I have an old media folder (10+ year old from mediaportal days) and it has series and movies and music.  The database is kind of in need of cleaning up so I am taking this time to do it.  I have lots of additional files like .nfo .url .png .jpg .sub that I have acquired as I have built up my library.  The internet is much different than 10-15 years ago and media player are also different.

I need to organize all of this stuff so that Emby can play it back.  What I have read is that I should start like this

~/Movies/Movie Title (Year)/Movie Title (Year).ext

Pretty simple and got it.  I also understand that different versions need to be in the same folder

~/Movies/Movie Title (Year)/Movie Title (Year) - 1080p.ext

~/Movies/Movie Title (Year)/Movie Title (Year) - Despecialized.ext

Cool.  Also that Emby can use subfolders

~/Movies/Movie Title (Year)/extras/Videofile name whatever.ext

These seem to be for video files mostly

I understand that media can store metadata and that depending on the media, container, etc what is available can be tricky.  I also understand that the answer to how to build a media library depends on if you are streaming over the internet to something, want to keep stuff local, or have software that can create and write to the metadata or a special file like .nfo

So I am going to start with ~/Movies/Movie Title (Year)/Movie Title (Year).ext but am unsure about all these other files (do I really need them now? Would they be helpful in the future? ) but am unsure what to do with these other files.

Any help (as simple as a link that I could not find by searching) is appreciated.  Thanks.

Hi, none of those extra images are required, but the server will use them if you have them. For example backdrops are used for backgrounds. logos can be used in place of titles in some cases. Does that help?

Thanks.  I removed all of my movies and then reimported them to the server and now it seems like most of the primary images are of the DVD disc.  Is there a way to correct this so that there is a "regular" image as primary?  I could change them one by one, but that is going to take forever....

Can you please show a screenshot example? Thanks.

OK well, what images do you have inside the folder for that movie?

Thanks for the help.  So I have searched for all the disc.png files and deleted them from my hard disk.  I was trying to find the file for this movie and I cannot find it!  Is there a way to find it from the interface that I put in the thread?

I will say that my organization isn't the best.  You might have missed this, but is there a way to find the file when looking at the movie screen from within the application (maybe like a stats for nerds info box)?

There isn't, no, although that's a good idea.

What version of the server is this?

Have you tried deleting the unwanted disc image using the web interface?
