kbeck 64 Posted April 11, 2025 Posted April 11, 2025 Every so often I have to move files from one drive to another to make room. It's only once or twice a year so I forget how without losing metadata. Have to move 3-400 GB at a time. It results in about half losing all metadata as if they were new adds. How can I prevent this? Thought maybe copying files instead of moving??? Letting the server scan and then deleting the old files?? Turning off the real-time monitoring??
Luke 42078 Posted April 11, 2025 Posted April 11, 2025 Hi, do you have nfo files next to your media? That's the best way to preserve metadata.

I do but I've noticed that because of the lag time copying 1 GB files across the network the real time monitoring sometimes creates new .nfo files before the old ones are copied. That's why I thought turning off Real Time Monitoring might help. I'll try that next time and see if it helps.
Luke 42078 Posted April 14, 2025 Posted April 14, 2025 In that situation, yes it might help to do that.
