edanius 4 Posted April 10, 2025 Posted April 10, 2025 When playing a video with an embedded subtitle track marked as fil for Filipino/Tagalog), the subtitle menu shows fil Instead of something more user-friendly like: Filipino (SUBRIP) or Tagalog (SUBRIP) Other languages (e.g., es, fr, de) display their full names correctly, so it seems fil is just missing from Emby’s mapping of language. The Emby server in is hosted onboard a ship where over 80% of the crew are from the Philippines. Having the language correctly displayed would make the interface much clear.
GrimReaper 4739 Posted April 10, 2025 Posted April 10, 2025 Have you tried with "tl" or "tgl" instead of "fil"?
Happy2Play 9780 Posted April 10, 2025 Posted April 10, 2025 Will have to test but would assume But yes @Lukewill have to comment here.

The subtitles are embedded in the video file, so there’s no separate .srt file that can be renamed. It seems like the issue is related to how Emby is interpreting the embedded subtitles. It’s not just this movie – all movies with embedded Filipino subtitles are affected in the same way.
Luke 42077 Posted April 10, 2025 Posted April 10, 2025 tagalog should work with tgl or tl. Filipino it's only the fil.

I understand that "fil" is the correct code for Filipino, but the issue here is that Emby displays "fil" in the subtitle menu, while other language codes (like "es", "fr", "de") are shown as "Spanish", "French", "German", etc. Why dont Emby display a more user-friendly label, like "Filipino", instead of just "fil"
Luke 42077 Posted April 10, 2025 Posted April 10, 2025 Hi, we'll take a look at it. Thanks for reporting.
