Multiple client sync issues

I've been wrestling with this for a few months.  And I'm not sure exactly when in the last 12 months or so this began to manifest.  What I have is multiple identical kodi installs on a number of clients (nvidia shiels, kodi).  Same equipment, same televisions in fact. When I add or delete from the server, only one of the clients will update (the first to access) while the others need a repair or update to see the new changes to the media library.  This hardware environment has gone unchanged for five years, and it has worked flawlessly the entire time until recently, so I'm left suspecting the emby server update as the culprit.  Is there a setting that I am missing?  Why is it only distributing updates to the first client?

Kodi companion is installed.

I've downgraded Kodi a number of times and it persists despite versions.

Emby for kodi 11.1.24

Like I said, it isn't a client issue.  If I access it first from one device, it updates appropriately while the others that follow will not. I can try a different device completely and it too will update, but the others will not.

Even though it hasn't needed it before, I still changed all device names to something unique, so emby is certain it isn't receiving the requests from the same devices.  I've even tried adding multiple user profiles, and even that doesn't get it done.

Any insight would be much appreciated!  Thanks!

I have 4 identical devices and do not experience this.  I recall once, I got cute and decided to setup 1 then just copy the kodi over to the others, well... that did not work as expected.  If I recall, you have to generate a new hardware key or deviceid? something like that somewhere.  Changing the names alone is not enough.  I don't recall if it's Emby for Kodi somewhere buried in there.

I'm actually looking at two different sets simultaneously right now and they both get updated near real time at the same time.
