How to enable direct stream on web interface?

Hi,

 

I use the web interface a lot through Chrome but find that it encodes on my server and does not direct stream?  If I play the same file on the same machine using MBT is direct streams, is there a way to enable this or is it a limitation of using the web browser?

you don't need to.it's smart enough to know when it can direct stream and when it can't

Hi Luke, I appreciate the reply but can you help me with as to why it encodes everything then please as mbs does not encode anything on the same machine, also all files play perfectly on the same machine with vlc,media playe etc... will a log show anything?

lookup the supported formats for whatever browser you're using

The short answer is yes, the browser is much more limited than those other programs in what it can directly play.

I use MP4 with AAC audio to get direct stream in Chrome browser. I convert my files using Handbrake.
