I outgrew my TerraMaster F5-221, TOS 4 & have built up a F6-424 Max, TOS 6 I've copied all my data/libraries to the new TNAS, and installed the same beta version of emby as on the original F5-221. Have entered all the users on the F6-424 & added emby connect email addresses.

Is it possible, using emby Backup & extract user data, to move the user "viewed" information to the F6-424 emby instance? I'm attempting to provide as seamless a switchover for users as possible. Also trying to avoid "hosing" the emby installation on F6-424 Max, as TOS 6/emby seems to be a bit "fragile" regarding permissions and permanently disabling emby.

Thanks in advance,

John

Hi, yes you should be able to do that.

Let's "pretend" I'm a very inexperienced, I like detailed instructions... 😎

So I copy the last backup folder from the F5-221 to my local computer, then copy from local computer to the F6-424 Max, folder where it's backups are, then use the extract users function on the emby server on F6-424 Max, using the backup I just copied to it.

My concern is possible "absolute" paths for the data, since they're a bit different between TOS 4 and TOS 6...

TOS 4 instance vs TOS 6 instance pics...

I "hope" I'm over-thinking this... but I'd prefer to be "safe" than "sorry".

Thanks Luke!!

You are doing a restore process you just need to click the Extract data from Backup button to open the user data dialog.  Only issue I see may be users created in different order per server.

@Happy2PlayThanks, I'd looked & found the extract button. User creation order... Jeez, it's been years on the "original" so cannot remember the order. I used the "alphabetical" order, after the "admin" user of course, to input users on the F6-424 Max "new" box... Guess it's just "trial & error"...  I just "hate" the inevitable pain that comes with "error"...

Thanks!

By default they should be id order so if your names don't match up should suggest they have different ids per database.
