his has gone on for days what can i do to install the server. this has gone on for days with the big window popping up but going no further

Where did you get the installer as that would appear to be an obsolete version?

right here under download emby that does appear to be the problem. nowhere else to download from. even github is downloading the corrupted version of emby serve so i cant reinstall the server

youd think luke would be all over this but s0 far not a word, i even reinstalled windows hoping that would be a solution but despite that. not a thing   

any idea where to download a valid server installer

Sorry but I would assume it is only environmental if you are the only one affected.

Not sure I follow as I just got the zip from GitHub without issue 4.8.11.0 and 4.9.0.43.

and why do we get an error when we do?

The links download fine for me.  I suspect your Virus checker may be stopping the downloads.

Dev will most likely say the same thing as it has to be something local to your area then as GitHub is not having issue.

That is what the all the repos are as there is no standalone offline installer.

And dev can't be here 24/7 but will say the same this or ask are you using a vpn or proxy?  Or have security software interfering with the download?

I'm not clear - you say it only downloads half, and then you say it tries to install v.3.0.  Which is it?

Please itemise the steps you go through and maybe show screenshots of the point(s) where it goes wrong.

how he’s got the right one but it doesn’t download

i just want an Emby that works, is that too much? I spent two hours on git hub getting 4.8.11 that downloaded but only added 1 of my 5 different directories so I’m still struggling here

So you have managed to download the current stable version, and install it.  That's a good start.

If you are having problems setting it up, then follow the instructions linked at the top of the page about reporting problems (basically, it tells you where to find the server logs, and to include them with your problem report in which you itemise the steps taken and where the failure occurred).

Sorry but no something on your setup is messing with the installer and not getting proper versioning.  But in the end the install and portable are two different things and if you can not download the zip/7z folder from GitHub then I would say there is definitely something wrong with your system.
