flibberflops 1 Posted April 5, 2025 Posted April 5, 2025 I never had this issue on Windows legacy Theater app, but since the MS store version(s) I have suffered with the same issue where the dpad control stops working at one specific point on emby. Generally everything on the remote works fine (using Dpad navigation, not air mouse) However, if I watch a Live TV program... then Exit the TV program (using the back button) Dpad navigation still works fine (In the TV program menu). When i press the back button again (to go back to the Emby main menu) the dpad buttons no longer work! No items are highlighted on the main menu screen and I cannot select anything via dpad (although things like shutdown and volume still work). The only way to regain control is to switch the remote to air mouse and select an item on the menu. I can then switch back to Dpad mode and control as per normal. Today I am on the latest version (all the 2's) but to be honest ever since the move to the store version this problem has existed.
darkassassin07 652 Posted April 5, 2025 Posted April 5, 2025 The xbox version of this app has had the same cursor focus issue since it's release over 4 months ago now. It's been reported at least dozen times by a variety of people and still has not been addressed AT ALL.
softworkz 5066 Posted April 6, 2025 Posted April 6, 2025 Admittedly, this is the most unfortunate bug of the whole new-apps operation. The problem is that it rarely ever reproduces in the Xbox DevKit mode. This is a separate environment into which you need to boot an Xbox in order for being able to debug an application. It is impossible to debug an app that is running in the context of the regular Xbox mode. You cannot even install an app to run there without going through the MS Store certification. In DevKit mode, the bug manifests very rarely only, means there's no chance to reproduce and when you make a change, you have no way to determine whether that change would fix it. There have been four attempts in previous updates to fix it, but none of them did the trick. These attempts had to be on the safe side though, as not to cause any even more severe breakage. At the moment, I can only confirm that this is still an open issue.
flibberflops 1 Posted April 6, 2025 Author Posted April 6, 2025 I don't know if this helps but I have found it only occurs for me under these very specific circumstances... In the image attached if I click on any of the Live TV posters e.g. Countryfile, Clamamity Jane etc (the joy of UK free TV!) it loses focus every single time I back out. However, if I click "programs" or even the "On Now" text and choose the exact same live TV posters e.g. Countryfile, Clamamity Jane etc.... I never get any problems? So my problem seems to only happen if I click one of the Live TV posters on the main menu, if I click a poster in any other menu I have no issues what so ever! "Weird, Weird"
softworkz 5066 Posted April 6, 2025 Posted April 6, 2025 Wait a second - are you talking about the Windows or the Xbox app?
flibberflops 1 Posted April 6, 2025 Author Posted April 6, 2025 Sorry if it wasn't clear... this is a Windows issue. My original post started with the line"I never had this issue on Windows legacy Theater app, but since the MS store version(s)...". It was darkasssasin that brought up the xbox version problem.
