Transcoding / Pass through confusion - Ac3 passed as 2.1 PCM

Hi,

Just got an LG c4, running Emby 1.0.46, which is connected to a Yamaha RXV-485 AVR. I'm getting weird behaviour on pass through that I'm hoping someone can explain.

If I play a file with audio that WebOS doesn't support, like TrueHD or DTS-HDMA, the audio is transcoded to AC3 (384kpbs) which is as expected. That is what Stats for Nerds reports is happening.

However, the AVR says it is receiving PCM 2.1. Suggesting that WebOS thinks the AVR can't handle AC3 I guess.

But if I play a file that has native AC3 (5.1 640kpbs), it'll pass through the audio no problem.

Obviously it's a new TV (to me) so maybe I've screwed something up, but eARC/Simplink is on,  Digital Sound Out set to Auto (same happens with Pass through). I can't work out why it would be happening.

Sidebar: Would be lovely if we could set Emby Server to transcode to something a little more substantial than 384kpbs but I settle for it if I can get it working!)

Apologies - this isn't happening with DTS-HD, just with TrueHD.

Hmm. It looks like this will be complicated! So, I think I'll just add an ac3 audio track to the file and avoid the issue.

Thanks

Yes, that's a better option.

Ignore that these say DTS, the same will work for ATMOS.
