Lighthammer 91 Posted April 5, 2025 Posted April 5, 2025 Greetings, Don't see this in issues. I am having an ongoing problem with Metadata. There are a few series that absolute REFUSE to update the metadata for episodes. I've tried: Ensuring the series is properly mapped on the server. Moving a series to an adjacent, mapped folder on the server. Clearing out *ALL* the metadata files in a particular folder. Manually rewriting the entire tvshow.nfo file. Rescanning all TV Series Rescanning individual series. Rescanning specific episodes. Ensuring the proper IMDB series is part of the folder structure (my typical sorting). Ensuring the series recognizes as the proper IMDB#, TMDB#, TVDB#. Disabling Anime databases. Resorting preferred metadata source order. probably a few other things that escape my mind atm. In particular, I'm having a REALLY WEIRD problem with one series (I havent noticed this with any others). Reacher [2022] [tt9288030] keeps recognizing as Kimi ni Todoke: From Me to You [2009] [tt1745240]; But, its a bit weirder then that --- it keeps recognizing a SEASON of Reacher as Kimi ni Todoke: From Me to You. A lot of the crazier troubleshooting steps I mentioned above were bore out by trying to figure this issue out. Does anyone have any suggestions? Most recent log file attached. embyserver.txt
Luke 42078 Posted April 5, 2025 Posted April 5, 2025 Hi, what exactly do you mean by refuse to update? How are your files named and organized?

Sorry for the delay, I used to have a really good app for spitting out folder/file layouts, but I cant remember what it was. I was trying to find it quick >.> (this isnt it).
Lighthammer 91 Posted April 5, 2025 Author Posted April 5, 2025 Animation [720p] would be the root folder mapped in the TV Series Library. Likewise, things like Animation [1080p], Live Action [720p] and Live Action [1080p] would also be mapped as the top folder in the TV Series Library.

Reacher [2022] [tt9288030] ProviderId tag syntax you're using ([ttxxxxxx]) is not utilized by Emby, it might as well not be there at all, consider renaming series folder to one of the supported naming conventions, i.e. Reacher (2022) [imdbid=tt9288030] in your example. Additionally, using IMDB Id tag is sorta hit-and-miss, as it has to be available on online providers' database (TVDB. TMDB, TV Maze, OMBDApi...), which is not always the case, it is advisable to use ID tag of your top-preferred meta-downloader, i.e. Reacher (2022) [tvdbid=366924] if it were TVDB. Its worked in the past. I actually ran the whole issue by @Luke YEARS ago before I settled on that format. At the time, (fairly) the suggestion was to keep to the regular format, but it SHOULD be fine (thus why its in square brackets, Emby used to ignore anything in square brackets, but I know thats changed back and forth a few times through various versions.

So would need server logs to actually see the item queries. But realistically should only apply to a new unidentified item as all existing items should already have providerids.

Lighthammer 91 Posted April 7, 2025 Author Posted April 7, 2025 Reporting back. Things SEEM to be working after killing off all the addons @Lukesuggested to kill. ---- So, no bugs get generated from this, I do need to note Reacher, in particular, was a type-o issue. Each season was spelled 'Seaosn'. The type-o was the issue with that series. OTHER series that were having issues updating are updating now, though it often takes me having to move the folder out of the mapped folder and back into it after scanning. ---- As for series format, my nomenclature seems to remain viable. Both Reacher and MacGyver (2016) properly updated after removing ALL the metadata from the folder. 1
