Auto Organizing Variable Help

Hey Guys,

I feel stupid asking this one because I feel like the information is probably some place I should be looking (checked Wiki on Github, checked Wiki on this site, searched forum; etc).

I was going to queue up the Auto Organizing feature, but I cant figure out the variables to ensure the system maintains my structure.

---

I use a 'slightly unorthodox' setup with my season folders. I am aiming for (Ex: "Season 01 [2025]") using:

- a TWO DIGIT Season number in all cases. (can't figure out if this a variable for this)

- The '[' and ']' brackets (Easy, as it obviously uses no variables for that).

and most importantly;

- Year the season premiered.

---

Usecase/Rational/Reason for years in Season Folder:

Since this HAS been a discussion in the long, long ago; I'll recite my reasoning for this. I like to be able to keep an eye on which series came out which year so I can have my own sanity check on series. I think this has actually become a bigger issue recently with many series being in hiatus between seasons for multiple years. It acts as a sanity check.

---

Usecase for the brackets:

More of an 'fyi', the reason I use '[' and ']' is because Emby used to be (maybe still is?) 'blind' to anything inside square brackets. I tend to use those to keep things visibly easy to see on the backend such as years, codexi and resolutions. I know Emby has been gotten pretty decent at ignoring that stuff, but, meh, thats how I've built the server for ten years and that's how I'd keep it.

---

Thanks for any help on this.

Hi, does it even have settings for the season folder name? I can’t check it right now but I’m not sure that it does.

I've seen references in the forums to using %sy as a variable, but thats the only one I could find.... and it doesn't work currently (at least not in the preview).

Oh cool it does have that. So you should be able to do everything that you want to do except for the year in the series folder name. There is no option for that right now.

Ugg, ok,  then I'm  going to have  to  find another  solution. I  was already  planning to  use a different program, but I figured if the feature  was there and did what I needed, I'd just go with that.

Thanks anyway.

Not sure if this  nomenclature is esoteric or useful enough to enough people to suggest it as an added feature.

For  what its worth, Sonarr and then other apps from Servarr have the option.

  • Thanks 1
