Smitty018210 143 Posted April 3, 2025 Author Posted April 3, 2025 @GrimReaperQuestion? Could the issue be that I am doing this from a local networked PC and not the PC with the server on it? (I am disabled and stuck in bed at the moment and moving back and forth to the server PC is kinda hard right now.) Could this the result of some kind of weird permission issues?

If TMM's writing NFOs to media folders, don't see that where from you're accessing your server could be an issue.

Smitty018210 143 Posted April 3, 2025 Author Posted April 3, 2025 OK, so as a test I edited the cast at the "series" level in TMM and then refreshed the library and the changes were saved. So the issue I am having is definitely at the episode level and emby not refreshing the metadata from the nfo

I am trying now to figure out why emby wont read changes I've made to the episode nfo file. Emby should still be reading edits I've made to the nfo file and it's not. Having those turned off shouldn't stop emby from refreshing and showing updated nfo file information that I manually edited right? Edited April 3, 2025 by Smitty018210

Then you just wait for the real-time monitor to pick up the changes or run a normal library scan.

Refresh metadata isn’t the right way because that prioritizes internet metadata first, so the nfo edits will just get overwritten. It might work for you if all internet metadata is disabled.

As long as the date modified timestamp of the nfo file changes, then yes they’ll get picked up.

Even tired removing the whole folder from the library and ran scan and added it back to the library and scanned again. nothing, I'm kinda at a loss for words here. Every little trick I've learned over the years isn't working. Edited April 3, 2025 by Smitty018210

Take a look at it if you can and let me know. Its been more than 5 hours and about 20 re-scans of my library and it's not picking any changes up. Edited April 3, 2025 by Smitty018210

Smitty018210 143 Posted April 3, 2025 Author Posted April 3, 2025 (edited) Ok, so I think it has some thing to do with this: <type>GuestStar</type> Any of the actors that have that "type" under the actors name in the nfo file emby dose not honor the changes made to the order of the cast list. If I go in and delete that line of code from the nfo file then I run a liberty scan then emby see the changes and reorders the actor list. I am guess this something that TMM adds that emby dose not and that is what is causing the issue. Edited April 3, 2025 by Smitty018210

Happy2Play 9780 Posted April 3, 2025 Posted April 3, 2025 But had no issue reordering gueststar/writer/director on episodes.

Hey Happy, I uploaded the nfo file before in an earlier post, but here it is again. If you look at actor Genelle Williams for example she has <type>GuestStar</type> under her name. If I try and move her in the cast listing it dose not show up in emby, but If I go into the nfo file delete that line of code then emby see the change and it shows up. Should add that I am not getting actor list form TVDB. I have TMM set to download actors list from TMBD. Could that be what is causing this issue? But you have to ensure you maintain your Cast Lock unless you have Emby writing nfo files to rewrite the actual order.
Happy2Play 9780 Posted April 3, 2025 Posted April 3, 2025 One thing I did notice since nfo is already locked the locked cast never gets written (unless nfo saver is enabled), so a double refresh puts them back to original nfo order. <lockedfields>Cast</lockedfields>

That's were I thought the issues was, but it's not. I don't let emby mange my metadata. and turned off Metadata Savers>NFO earlier this morning at grim's advice. The issue now is that emby is not seeing the manual edits that I make to the cast list in TMM and the edits to the nfo file. Edited April 3, 2025 by Smitty018210
