Smitty018210 143 Posted April 3, 2025 Posted April 3, 2025 (edited) Is drag and drop actor/cast broken again? I've been trying to reorder some cast members in some TV episodes and the drag and drop dose not seem to be saving. When in the emby metadata editor and I move one actor position in the list and re-save the metadata and then go back to episode the change is not saved. Even when I got back to the emby metadata editor the changes are not save and look as if nothing was changed. My server: stable Version 4.8.11.0 All metadata is locked Metadata is saved locally in the Series folder I don't use Emby to download metadata (I use TMM) and have all metadata downloading disabled in Emby (Wouldn't think this would be an issue though) I've stumbled into this issue before, but was always able to get around it. This time I've had no luck. Any ideas? Edited April 3, 2025 by Smitty018210

Still didn't work. Oddly enough and even weirder of an issue the sort order shown in TMM is totally different then what is shown in emby too.

Hm, that's odd, I'm doing that on regular basis, never noticed any issues. 21 minutes ago, Smitty018210 said: the sort order shown in TMM is totally different then what is shown in emby too Are you positive you have all metadata-downloaders disabled in Emby as that should not be occurring? Have you tried rewriting NFOs in TMM and Refreshing Metadata>Replace all in Emby? Edited April 3, 2025 by GrimReaper
Smitty018210 143 Posted April 3, 2025 Author Posted April 3, 2025 (edited) Ok, so this is strange. I did a re-scan of the episode in TTM and look at the .nfo file in Notepad++ and it looked like this. I then went into the emby metadata editor and moved person again and saved then did a library refresh and looked at the .nfo file again and it looked like this. Why was it changed? Edit: The person that I moved still didn't save again. Edited April 3, 2025 by Smitty018210

I will double check, but pretty sure. The only thing enabled as far as emby is concerned is image fetching.

You likely have Metadata Savers>NFO enabled in library settings - you generally wouldn't want to do that, it is never a good idea to have multiple software wtite/rewrite your NFOs. Have only TMM write 'em (backend) and Emby only read' em (front-end). Edited April 3, 2025 by GrimReaper

Either way, i'd tick/untick (enable/disable) all those settings just in case no setting remained hanging/unchanged.

Ok, so I edited the cast order in TMM and refreshed the emby library and emby is still no showing updated list? thanks for the help. Still unsure what I am doing wrong. Also attached log and nfo Edit. .nfo file appears correct after editing. Emby just dose not seem to read the new order. embyserver.txt Warehouse 13 - 1x01 - Pilot.nfo Edited April 3, 2025 by Smitty018210

Smitty018210 143 Posted April 3, 2025 Author Posted April 3, 2025 (edited) In TMM I use the (scrape metadata for selected episode) option, but have do not overwright turned on. As I don't want TMM changing this after I've manual updated things either. But the .nfo appears to be correct now. The issues seems to be that emby is not updating from the new/saved/updated /nfo file even after re-scanning the library. Edited April 3, 2025 by Smitty018210

Right-click>Re-writing NFOs from context menu simply writes whatever is in TMMs database at the moment (that'd include your manual updates) to the NFO. 5 minutes ago, Smitty018210 said: The issues seems to be that emby is not updating from the new/saved/updated /nfo file even after re-scanning the library. Re-scanning might not pick up all the changes, personally I always refresh metadata on item I'm changing/updating, i.e. if I'm updating episode, I'm refreshing metadata on that particular episode - if I'm updating TV show, I'm refreshing TV show metadata. YMMV.

TMM is showing the corrected order and the nfo file is correct, but for what ever reason emby is refusing to update any changes to the metadata and is still displaying the old order. Could the nfo be cached somewhere in the emby database and it's not being updating correctly?
GrimReaper 4739 Posted April 3, 2025 Posted April 3, 2025 I honestly don't know, I've never encountered that issue like you're having - nor can I reproduce it, just checked changing cast order both on TV show and episode level, they all get picked up correctly. You might turn on Debug logging, repeat process and post server log for the Devs to check what's occurring, I'm out of ideas. 1

I am also going to try some basic troubleshooting as well. Restart PC/server Remove TV show from library re-scan and then add it back to see if it picks up the changes. Thanks for your help!
