GernerGuest 1 Posted April 2, 2025 Posted April 2, 2025 I have found an issue with the music genres when playing or shuffling it plays all the songs in the album even though only one song in that album has that genre tag embedded in it. When first going to the genre it shows the artists and then the albums and then the songs all the songs listed are correct for the genre. Hitting play or shuffle seems to take all songs in the albums. If i click on the songs first then play or shuffle it works as intended. Does anyone else have this issue? I've tried this on Android app the web client, windows theater, and Ubuntu theater. They all act the same. Emby server is 4.8.11.0
Luke 42077 Posted April 5, 2025 Posted April 5, 2025 HI there, can you please show an example of what exactly you clicked on? Thanks !
GernerGuest 1 Posted April 5, 2025 Author Posted April 5, 2025 I've only tried these 4 in the picture as you can see there is only 4 songs in Blues genre All 3 albums are soundtracks with various genres that's why this was easy to see. those 4 buttons bring up the 37 songs in these albums instead of just 4 that have the embedded genre tag.
Luke 42077 Posted April 27, 2025 Posted April 27, 2025 @GernerGuestthe challenge with this is that most users don't distinguish the difference between genres on an album vs genres on a track, so that's why we do this. But in your screenshot, couldn't you click the Songs header, and then press play/shuffle there?
GernerGuest 1 Posted April 28, 2025 Author Posted April 28, 2025 That isn't an option on Android TV or Linux Theater. That is a work around for the Web client, Windows Theater and Android app. Except if i want to create a playlist with a Genre that option is not available from the songs header. I would always end up having entire soundtrack album songs in any Playlist I created using any Genre, since every soundtrack is made up of many different Genres.

Can you try searching for our standard android app (Just "Emby" on Amazon and "Emby for Android on Google) on the same device's app store and see how that compares? Thanks.
