Android TV, Caddy reverse proxy and posters.

Can someone help me with what’s going on here:

Remote server, reverse proxy using Caddy. All works except for no posters/artwork.

Remote server, direct connection on port 8096. Posters and artwork appear.

Back to Remote server, reverse proxy using Caddy.  Posters/artwork appear.

Restart client. All still working. Add new movie - poster/artwork work as expected.

If you are using IPv6 that would be one reason.  If not, then it must be proxy configuration.

Hi.  Can you try searching for our standard android app (Just "Emby" on Amazon and "Emby for Android on Google) on the same device's app store and see how that compares?

It's IPv4 only. I do have the standard android app and it works fine right away, but I do prefer Android TV version as it has more control over Audio. It's now all working as expected but I am just curious as to why I had to take the steps mentioned before.

In android TV there is a setting - playback - allow dolby trueHD pass-thru and allow DTS pass-thru. I have these unchecked and videos with these codecs have the audio transcoded into a playable format and all is good.

 

In android standard | can find no such setting. Videos with DTS or trueHD try to direct play and playback fails. Only way to play them is to force a transcode by lowering the bitrate.

As per your other thread, the standard Android app now has that setting added to later versions. Would be good for you to test that out.

OK - installed from the APK. Found the setting to convert unsupported surround sound to Dolby. But Emby is still trying to direct play DTS and TruHD and it fails to play. So no change.

So technically your setup supports it but you just don’t want it?

No. The standard android app should transcode audio in the same way the android tv version does. My set up does not support DTS and TruHD.

In android tv, a file with dts audio will transcode just the audio into a playable format. In android standard playback does not happen at all.

But what does happen? Does the device blow up? Or something else?

Fortunately no explosions! The android standard app seems to try and direct play dts and truHD and doesn't get past 0.00.

Hi, have you tried comparing your reverse proxy settings to this?

Yes I know it's nginx, but most reverse proxies have a similar set of options. Thanks.
