cassios 1 Posted March 31, 2025 Posted March 31, 2025 Hello I'm trying Emby server on my Windows 11 server and i have a problem with transcoding with tone mapping. With my Radeon 7900 XTX, i can use hardware transcoding. But i see that the hardware tone mapping isn't used because lack of the colors with the transcoding. Hardware Tone Mapping on 7900 is ok on Plex and Jellyfin with last Windows 11 AMD drivers. But it's not ok with Emby, i can't choose hardware Tone mapping. Is there a solution?

cassios 1 Posted May 22, 2025 Author Posted May 22, 2025 Hello, sorry for long time, i'm busy at work. Here is a picture with software tone mapping on Emby, colors are ok : Here is the same picture with hardware transcoding tone mapping with my RX 7900 XTX on Emby, colors are not very beautiful : Same result, even if software tone mapping is on or off. Here is the same picture with hardware transcoding tone mapping with my RX 7900 XTX on Jellyfin, colors are ok :
Luke 42077 Posted May 31, 2025 Posted May 31, 2025 @cassios Please attach the server log from the time frame the activity occurred. See the section below titled Emby Server Logs. Please supply the full and complete log file in txt format. Please don't zip or compress, and avoid attempting to extract relevant sections. Everything is relevant to us. If a server transcoding log (ffmpeg log) was also generated during playback (in the server logs folder), please attach that as well. Thanks !
cassios 1 Posted June 3, 2025 Author Posted June 3, 2025 OK, here there is two files, one for the server and one for ffmpeg. I have activated hardware transcode and have disactivated the software tone mapping. There is washed colors in this case. If i activate the software tone mapping AND hardware transcoding, there is the sames washed colors. Thanks. ffmpeg-transcode-8f10acab-8cb5-4e48-ac87-57bb4a934d92_1.txt embyserver.txt

I would like to switch from Plex to Emby because Plex is going down the wrong path... But I need tone mapping with my 7900 XTX. I had installed Emby server bêta (4.9.1.11) and hardware tone mapping is not working. I'll try the next versions and I will tell you when it is working. Sorry for my very bad English language. Luke 42077 Posted August 8, 2025 Posted August 8, 2025 @cassiosWe'll have a new ffmpeg build on the server beta channel in the near future, so stay tuned for that. Thanks.
cassios 1 Posted August 14, 2025 Author Posted August 14, 2025 20250814 : Tested Emby server bêta (4.9.1.18) and hardware tone mapping is not working.
cassios 1 Posted August 14, 2025 Author Posted August 14, 2025 20250814 : I tried HEVC software transcoding and there is lag every 5-7 secondes (Emby server bêta 4.9.1.18).
