moviesandtv56 8 Posted March 31, 2025 Posted March 31, 2025 Installed WD Ultra Software, nothing worked, deleted all emby files on server, reinstalled, all worked. However, the movies home page button does not show the screen shots of the movies it's just blank. Started the roku up today and none of the movie where there, all gone. Checked the server and they were there. So I rescanned the movies and they are all in there again. However, the movie button on the main menu does not show the shots of the movies it's bland again. The url at the bottom of the menu does show different addresses, which it did not previously.
Luke 42593 Posted March 31, 2025 Posted March 31, 2025 Hi there, please attach the Emby server log from when the problem occurred: How to Report a Problem Thanks!
IUtgJHGKJF 0 Posted Monday at 06:35 PM Posted Monday at 06:35 PM It sounds like the issue may be related to corrupted metadata cache or thumbnail generation after reinstalling the WD/Emby setup. Try these steps: Clear the Emby metadata and image cache completely. Run a full library scan instead of a quick scan. Check that your movie folders still have proper read/write permissions. Disable any WD background media indexing software temporarily, as it can conflict with Emby scans. In Emby settings, refresh metadata and enable “Replace existing images.” If the Roku app still shows blank movie posters, remove and reinstall the Roku Emby app, then restart both the server and Roku device. moviesandtv56 8 Posted Monday at 09:08 PM Author Posted Monday at 09:08 PM Emby is great and they fixed many of the issues surrounding Plex's non support of people running their own servers. Plex had become a one stop shop for all streaming, being a for profit company rather than open source. Emby started doing the same as Plex for profit route and now folks have moved to Jellyfin for true open source. Not to demean Luke and crew, they are great, I can see how supporting the server folks that don't stream is not a good business model. I moved my server to Jellyfin and no longer have any issues. The easiest way to do that if you have anything Western Digital is to put an old pc or laptop in front of it, run the WD as a NAS either on your LAN or directly from your PC and install Jellyfin for windows. There is a way to install Jellyfin on WD but it's convoluted. WD is no longer making their NAS Cloud backup, etc. line so the support will go down from here. Jellyfin does not support WD as there is no reason to start with the product ending. Since switching to Jellyfin not one day of issues. Everything works for Roku, iphone, android, windows, and mac. I don't use google or amazon so can't speak to those. Again, Luke and Emby are great, just stating a solution that worked for the WD setup. Thanks.
