User337 3 Posted March 29, 2025 Posted March 29, 2025 Hello, I am trying to convert my whole library replacing the original files. Emby itself shows the library has 18475 items: Adding the conversion job (right click library -> convert) however only about 14930 items are detected: What is the reason for such a big difference? I previously converted single shows using the same conversion settings. Are those already excluded? Even if they are the difference stil seems to be pretty big. Any idea on this one?
darkassassin07 652 Posted March 29, 2025 Posted March 29, 2025 If an item already matches the desired output, it won't be added to that list. Items also get removed from the list, during the conversion process, when Embys library scan sees the converted files are missing (because emby deleted them to replace with the new conversions). I find the built in conversion feature good for small one-off jobs, but when it comes to maintaining a library in a desired format I use Tdarr. Embys convert just doesn't maintain history to prevent itself from pre-processing files and stumbling over itself constantly. 1
User337 3 Posted March 29, 2025 Author Posted March 29, 2025 (edited) Yes, you are right, it doesnt maintain history but the job was just created and the number above was in the initial state without any conversion being done by this job. Items already matching the wanted format being excluded explains why the number is smaller but not by such a big margin ... or maybe it does. I converted a few shows already but this doesnt explain such a big difference of over 3000 items. I will take a deeper look into Tdarr. Maybe it can replace what Emby is doing for me right now, thank you Edited March 29, 2025 by User337
User337 3 Posted March 29, 2025 Author Posted March 29, 2025 Nono. I just decided that I want to convert the whole library instead of just selected shows how I did before. I dont want to convert anything again. I want to find out why the queued items count is so much lower than the total tv shows episode count but I guess it is really just the episodes that got previously converted even tho I cant imagine them to be 3k total single files.
Luke 42077 Posted March 29, 2025 Posted March 29, 2025 It doesn't necessarily mean they already got converted. It means they already match the conversion criteria that you're specfying.
