frankmb 41 Posted March 28, 2025 Posted March 28, 2025 I am hearing a very annoying Double UI Sound every time I select an item in TV Mode on in Windows Emby 2.222.2.0. If Select with Enter -> Double Sound If Select with Space -> Single Sound If Select with mouse click -> No Sound The problem is in the main area. It does not happen in the left side bar, nor on the items in the top area (home, favorites, search icon...)
Luke 42077 Posted March 29, 2025 Posted March 29, 2025 Hi, what theme do you have enabled in the app?
frankmb 41 Posted March 29, 2025 Author Posted March 29, 2025 Theme: Dark Sound Effects: None Because Sound Effects is None I should not even be hearing the sounds I think. After I switched to TV mode, I initially switched the theme to Windows Media Center and then switched back to Dark a few seconds later.
frankmb 41 Posted March 29, 2025 Author Posted March 29, 2025 Related to this, I think the TV mode option should be much more prominent. I did not know about TV mode until I saw it mentioned in the forum here. Initially the Display mode was set to Auto. However this did not put me in TV mode even though my computer is connected to a TV. The navigation using a keyboard is much better in TV mode than Desktop mode. My initial reaction to keyboard navigation in the new Emby Windows app was that it is very bad. In desktop mode, the mouse continues to keep focus even when I navigate using the keyboard. I already reported this here but it is not fixed: In TV mode, however the mouse cursor is visible but does not have focus. So TV mode is much better for keyboard navigation right now. In both Display modes, I think the mouse cursor should disappear, once the keyboard is used to navigate until I move the mouse again. 1

What happens when you change the sound scheme? Does the sound change? And for the "double sound", does one change or both? When you switch sounds off again, does anything change?

Sound Effect setting was initially at None yet I heard Double Sounds when using Enter key to select 1: Change to Default Sound Effect: Exact same Double Sounds when using Enter key to select. Both sounds of the "double" are the same. 2: Change to Windows Sound Effects: Different Double Sounds when using Enter key to select. Both sounds of the "double" are the same. 3: Change to WMC Sound Effects: Again Different Double Sounds when using Enter key to select. Both sounds of the "double" are the same. 4: Change to None: No Sound at all So the Sound Effect setting started to apply properly once I changed it once.
softworkz 5066 Posted April 6, 2025 Posted April 6, 2025 Thanks, that is helpful, even though I have no idea at the moment why the sounds might play doubled...
frankmb 41 Posted April 6, 2025 Author Posted April 6, 2025 (edited) You can't reproduce this when navigating with keyboard direction keys and Enter? Edit: I investigated a bit more and there is a UI sound when I press Enter and another when I release Enter. With a longer press, it separates the 2 sounds more. Edited April 6, 2025 by frankmb

And you are the first one ever reporting this (beta started around October iirc). Is there anything special on your machine? For example regarding input devices - keyboards, remotes, any kind of HID devices? Any kind of software (accessibility area maybe, screenreader, etc.)? Gaming inputs like gamepad, jostick, emulations of such etc.?
frankmb 41 Posted April 8, 2025 Author Posted April 8, 2025 (edited) There is nothing particular I can think of. I shut down Steam and DS4Windows in case they could cause an input issue but it did not change anything. I just tried installing the Emby Windows app on a different computer. I went into app settings and changed Display Mode -> TV and Sound Effects -> Default Sound Effects. I am hearing the same problem with double sounds when using Enter to select items in TV mode. softworkz 5066 Posted April 8, 2025 Posted April 8, 2025 Very mysterious! To synchronize on the expected result. This is how it sounds here and how it's supposed to be: EmbyApp_Sounds.mp4
frankmb 41 Posted April 9, 2025 Author Posted April 9, 2025 The settings menu is not where the problem occurs. I've had this issue since before the new app was released (it started some time last year or so while using the older version of ET and continued into using the new Windows app). I haven't checked to see if the issue is gone for me yet, just stumbled across this thread and it made me wish I reported the issue when I noticed it. Assuming it will be gone now though from the sound of it!
softworkz 5066 Posted May 18, 2025 Posted May 18, 2025 It's fixed in the Windows app, but not in the other apps yet
frankmb 41 Posted October 20, 2025 Author Posted October 20, 2025 Bumping up this bug again. I just noticed the exact same double UI sound behaviour happens when I use a Xbox Series Controller on Windows App 2.234.2.0 and press "ok" button A.
