Zephyer 4 Posted March 28, 2025 Posted March 28, 2025 the Emby server is running on; Quote Synology DSM 7.2.2-72806 Update 3 Server type DS220+ Containerized Emby app version 4.8.11.0 I have an premium key active. The container is being checked for updates every night and with that a restart is initiated. I've got AppleTV within my network, various AppleTV's working from outside the network and iPads/iPhones that are variously connecting to the server. Every type mentioned has the issue (since a month or so) that the response in the app (and every app on the end user device is running latest versions as well), from the server isn't stable anymore. Before that, everything was fine. The content (listing of ex. movies) isn't loaded with eventually an error stating that the server isn't responding or something like that (don't have a screenshot with me atm) of that the movie/series isn't loading or the wait time is exponentially long. The server log (attached) is showing errors and I'm into IT but not in this part. ... If anything else is needed to troubleshoot in whatever way, i'll be waiting. embyserver (1).txt
Zephyer 4 Posted March 28, 2025 Author Posted March 28, 2025 (edited) It occured this morning again around 0930 hours. i see the logging giving errors about some .avi and something about opensubtitles, although i dont use that setting… Edited March 28, 2025 by Zephyer
Luke 42077 Posted March 28, 2025 Posted March 28, 2025 I would check your library options. It does appear that you enabled automatic subtitle downloading.
Solution Zephyer 4 Posted March 28, 2025 Author Solution Posted March 28, 2025 (edited) Trying to find out where this setting should be, I did have the plugin installed but nothing with accounts registered so removed the plugin and rebooted the server. Edited March 28, 2025 by Zephyer

Then scroll down to the automatic subtitle downloads section. You probably enabled it for one or more languages.
Zephyer 4 Posted April 1, 2025 Author Posted April 1, 2025 I think by removing the opensub plugin it's removed. As I dont have an account there, I guess (no proof) the plugin wanted to connect but couldnt.

What you did is fine for today, but later if you want to actually use subtitle downloading you'll likely have forgotten all about this and then you'll be wondering why nothing is happening. And that will be because you don't have any subtitle downloaders on your server. Better to just uncheck the box so that you can quickly recheck it later. The permanent removal is meant for more advanced, very specific cases.
Zephyer 4 Posted April 2, 2025 Author Posted April 2, 2025 True, but the menu option that you mentioned is one I couldn’t find.
