narayansmate 4 Posted March 28, 2025 Posted March 28, 2025 Hi. I have installed Emby on my QNAP TS-464C. However when I go to open it I get this message "This site can’t be reached. 192.168.0.103 refused to connect". I do not know how to open the port or allow the connection in my QNAP firewall. Can anyone provide me with step by step instructions? Hoping someone can help me. Thanks.
GrimReaper 4739 Posted March 28, 2025 Posted March 28, 2025 Not a QNAP user so I'll likely be of little assistance there, but I see in your screenshot you're using port 8920 - that is https port and typically not used in local network, have you tried connecting to default port 8096, i.e. http://192.168.0.103:8096?
narayansmate 4 Posted March 28, 2025 Author Posted March 28, 2025 Hi. 8096 does not work either. The port 8920 was what the Emby app used after clicking on it. But thank you.
Luke 42077 Posted March 28, 2025 Posted March 28, 2025 Hi, did you follow all of the install instructions on our website?
narayansmate 4 Posted March 28, 2025 Author Posted March 28, 2025 Hi. I certainly did and made sure the first instruction was done as well.
Luke 42077 Posted March 28, 2025 Posted March 28, 2025 Is any Emby server log file generated? Emby Server Data Folder
narayansmate 4 Posted March 28, 2025 Author Posted March 28, 2025 Hi. I am unable even to access the server. It is a new NAS. QNAP TS-464C. I am trying to configure the QNAP firewall to allow the connection but I do not not how to do that. Thanks

You just need to be able to get to the directory where log files are written. Is that something you can do?
narayansmate 4 Posted March 28, 2025 Author Posted March 28, 2025 Hi. No, sorry there is not even a log file.

I thought you said you installed the server on QNAP? Did you click the link I provided to learn how to locate the server data folder on your QNAP? Emby Server Data Folder
narayansmate 4 Posted March 28, 2025 Author Posted March 28, 2025 Hi. Sorry. Have to install another app to see that share. I am doing that now but have to wait as the QNAP is doing something that is holding up the process... I am so sorry. I will be able to try again later. Thanks for bearing with me as a self professed newb...
narayansmate 4 Posted March 28, 2025 Author Posted March 28, 2025 Morning. I cannot seem to be able to find the Emby share folder or any folders. I am so sorry but I am a complete newb. How can I navigate to that folder? Is there a particular app I need to use?
narayansmate 4 Posted March 29, 2025 Author Posted March 29, 2025 Hi Luke. So, last night, I reset the NAS back to factory, and installed Emby first thing. Worked a treat and I was able to log into the server, add folders and files and even access some media. I then added the apps Security Center, Malware Remover, Clam AV and QU Firewall. After that I can no longer connect. I have tried disabling each app, and also removing each app. But it seems one of these apps has changed something. The port forwarding on my modem is fine. I also added an exception to allow Emby server access in QUFirewall. But nothing has worked. I have tried to find the Emby app logs on the QNAP NAS but cannot seem to find them. So any help to find them and the issue would be appreciated greatly. Thanks. Gavin

narayansmate 4 Posted April 1, 2025 Author Posted April 1, 2025 Hi Luke. OK, so QNAP have been able to get me in via an external IP address (http://101.166.38.65:8096/). But when we log into the server, it still says "Running on HTTP port 8096, In-Home (LAN) access: http://192.168.0.103:8096, Remote (WAN) access: http://101.166.38.65:8096. I am still waiting to hear back from them about internal server access which is still not working. BUT, I have managed to download the log files which I am attaching now. Happy2Play 9780 Posted April 1, 2025 Posted April 1, 2025 Is there a reason you are on a old server version? Application version: 4.7.11.0 Have you restarted the QNAP? As for local access have you modified anything on the Network page?
narayansmate 4 Posted April 1, 2025 Author Posted April 1, 2025 Hi Luke. Many, many thanks. So, QNAP have solved most of the issues, whatever they were (they did not say). I had downloaded the most up to date Emby package at that date, that is all. I have now downloaded the new update and installed it. Almost everything is working now, except for one thing, which I do not know how to fix. When I click on the Emby icon in QNAP server, it goes to this address: https://192.168.0.103:8920/. Which of course is incorrect, as the addresses are: In-Home (LAN) access: http://192.168.0.103:8096 and Remote (WAN) access: http://101.166.38.65:8096. When I first type in the address manually, I get a blank page, per attached, even if I manually change the port to 8096. However if I click on the internal address given inside Emby, it works a treat. Any ideas or help? Thanks. Gavin
Luke 42077 Posted April 1, 2025 Posted April 1, 2025 Quote When I click on the Emby icon in QNAP server, it goes to this address: https://192.168.0.103:8920/. There's no way to stop that unfortunately. We mark our QNAP package as https-capable, and by doing this, QNAP will always want to open the https address. But of course this will only work if you've setup https on your server. If you're not going to do that, then the best thing to do is just bookmark the http url.
narayansmate 4 Posted April 1, 2025 Author Posted April 1, 2025 OK, I think I might do the https. It seems to be safer. ANy ideas on a reasonably priced way to do that? Thanks man.
