BigIrn 10 Posted March 27, 2025 Posted March 27, 2025 I have a mac that has content on it and I'm using a windows 11 machine to serve emby. This configuration is just temporary until I remote into the mac running on VPN. On the windows machine I can access from Windows Explorer both network share drives for Movies and TV Shows. In emby I can only see content in TV Shows. Movies is empty. Both folders are shared from the same volume (t9/media/), they have the same account and r/w permissions and I have rebooted the mac to ensure it retains shared folder rights. Here is the log: 2025-03-27 00:24:27.602 Error App: Error in validateChildren for 759174 \\m4\media\Movies *** Error Report *** Version: 4.8.11.0 Command line: C:\Users\image\AppData\Roaming\Emby-Server\system\EmbyServer.dll -noautorunwebapp Operating system: Microsoft Windows 10.0.26100 Framework: .NET 6.0.36 OS/Process: x64/x64 Runtime: C:/Users/image/AppData/Roaming/Emby-Server/system/System.Private.CoreLib.dll Processor count: 8 Data path: C:\Users\image\AppData\Roaming\Emby-Server\programdata Application path: C:\Users\image\AppData\Roaming\Emby-Server\system System.IO.IOException: System.IO.IOException: The specified server cannot perform the requested operation. : '\\m4\media\Movies' at System.IO.Enumeration.FileSystemEnumerator`1.MoveNext() at System.Collections.Generic.LargeArrayBuilder`1.AddRange(IEnumerable`1 items) at System.Collections.Generic.EnumerableHelpers.ToArray[T](IEnumerable`1 source) at Emby.Server.Implementations.IO.ManagedFileSystem.EnumerateFileSystemInfos(DirectoryInfo dir, Boolean recursive) at Emby.Server.Implementations.IO.ManagedFileSystem.GetFileSystemEntries(String path, Boolean recursive, FileSystemCredentials credentials) at MediaBrowser.Controller.Providers.DirectoryService.GetFileSystemEntriesInternal(String path) at System.Collections.Concurrent.ConcurrentDictionary`2.GetOrAdd(TKey key, Func`2 valueFactory) at MediaBrowser.Controller.Entities.Folder.GetNonCachedChildren(IDirectoryService directoryService, LibraryOptions libraryOptions) at MediaBrowser.Controller.Entities.BaseItem.ValidateChildrenInternal(IProgress`1 progress, CancellationToken cancellationToken, Boolean recursive, Boolean refreshChildMetadata, BaseItem[] collectionFolders, LibraryOptions libraryOptions, Dictionary`2 newItemIds, MetadataRefreshOptions refreshOptions, IDirectoryService directoryService) at Emby.Server.Implementations.Library.LibraryManager.ValidatePhysicalRoots(IProgress`1 progress, IDirectoryService directoryService, CancellationToken cancellationToken) Source: System.Private.CoreLib TargetSite: Boolean MoveNext()

BigIrn 10 Posted March 27, 2025 Author Posted March 27, 2025 So check it. They are identical. I'm so lost as to how to troubleshoot it.
Neminem 1518 Posted March 27, 2025 Posted March 27, 2025 Can you show a screenshot of tv shows path in Emby.
BigIrn 10 Posted March 27, 2025 Author Posted March 27, 2025 Here are both movies (empty) and TV Shows (populated):
Neminem 1518 Posted March 27, 2025 Posted March 27, 2025 Try putting a \ behind movies you have that trailing back slash in your tv show path.
Neminem 1518 Posted March 27, 2025 Posted March 27, 2025 But I a bit confused by this in your screen shots. But in Emby you have \\m4\media\tv shows and you say that works.
BigIrn 10 Posted March 27, 2025 Author Posted March 27, 2025 Yeah it works both ways because the media folder and the TV Shows/Movies folder have the same share permissions
Neminem 1518 Posted March 27, 2025 Posted March 27, 2025 Did you try with this movie path \\m4\media\movies\ By adding the \ to the end. Like you have in your tv show path.

Neminem 1518 Posted March 27, 2025 Posted March 27, 2025 Ok guess I'm out of ideas, sorry. But would be great with full logs, to see more info, that might lead to a solution. Devs would also ask for those
BigIrn 10 Posted March 27, 2025 Author Posted March 27, 2025 Fuck it this is annoying because the other folder works and this one doesn't. Posting the entire log. embyserver(6).txt

My windows and Mac share the same userid/pw on the same workgroup. Embyserver.exe runs on "image". it's not a service so I can't change how it authenticates. I didn't have to impersonate or change anything to access the shared drives using windows explorer.
