Bearus1987 3 Posted March 25, 2025 Posted March 25, 2025 Hi, I sometimes note that my Emby can be quite sluggish in slow searching and scanning of the library and I've been looking around the forums and I have a feeling my database settings might need some tweaking. My Library is around 20K Movies and 4K Series and my Library.db file is sitting at 760MB, can someone take a look at my screenshot and advise on these two settings on what I can change them too in order to see some improvement. I have a server runnnig 64GB RAM and a decent AMD 16-Core 32-Thread CPU and sometimes the CPU gets battered and I wondered if it's due to me not having the database set to allocate enough memory free... I've seen some posts about increasing the size to 1.5-2x my library size but I've got a LOT of spare RAM so wondered if I can go higher and also I've no idea what the Analysis Row Limit setting means and can this go higher than 400 to speed anything up? Apprecaite any help that can be given here
Solution Lessaj 467 Posted March 25, 2025 Solution Posted March 25, 2025 I'd increase the DB cache to 2x library size, so 2GB, for the rows I'm not sure but I have mine set to 1000.
Happy2Play 9780 Posted March 25, 2025 Posted March 25, 2025 Yes increasing cache size may help as 128MB is low for your db size as I would have at least 1024. As for analyze that is really mor for checking your db on shutdown is my understanding.
Bearus1987 3 Posted March 25, 2025 Author Posted March 25, 2025 Ok, Perfect. As I have such a large amount of RAM I suppose it won't hurt bumping it up to 4096MB and I'll set the Analyze Lines to 1,000. When it says about needing to reboot the server, does this mean a phyiscal restart of my actual server or just the Restart Emby Server button from the Dashboard or me running the Linux command to restart the Emby Service.
Bearus1987 3 Posted March 25, 2025 Author Posted March 25, 2025 Ok great. I'm already seeing an improvement on searching for stuff and the loading of the images / content in the Libraries so fingers crossed this will reduce a bottleneck and the CPU won't be getting battered when more devices are online. Thanks for the help 2
