mateusfn 0 Posted March 25, 2025 Author Posted March 25, 2025 I download files that already have subtitles. But I can't automatically change the language subtitle in Emby. How can I ? Example: I wanna to CR_Portuguese(Brazil) to be selected automatically, can I?
mateusfn 0 Posted March 25, 2025 Author Posted March 25, 2025 (edited) It's already PT-BR #Edit In subtitle mode is "always reproduce subtitle" selected, to test some solutions. Edited March 25, 2025 by mateusfn

Luke 42078 Posted March 26, 2025 Posted March 26, 2025 Try adding Portuguese as another subtitle language. In your settings you selected pt-br, but I don’t think those subtitles are actually tagged as that.
Happy2Play 9780 Posted March 26, 2025 Posted March 26, 2025 I guess one way to check is filtering your library by that subtitle to see if they actually show. As Emby may not be interpreting the way they are tagged per that naming scheme as Luke mentioned. As your image suggest Emby only knows they are Portuguese language but does not understand the Title field.

When the media start, it's not subtitled, but after +- 1 minute paused/playing it appears.

Now with Portuguese selected it works, but with the error that I wrote above.
Lessaj 467 Posted March 26, 2025 Posted March 26, 2025 I'd recommend checking your server log for the text "Subtitle extraction took" and see how long it takes for one of the files you saw the delay on.

I would suggest you remux the file with MKVToolNix which should make it more streaming-friendly and so enable the subtitles to start immediately. In the process you could remove all the unwanted subs as well, in case that helps. Paul

Luke 42078 Posted March 27, 2025 Posted March 27, 2025 Hi there, please attach the complete emby server log file, rather than a snippet. Thanks.

Complete log with normal .mkv, not with only portugues subtitles enabled. Opening a different media and copying the log after subtitles appear. embyserver.txt Edited March 27, 2025 by mateusfn
Luke 42078 Posted March 27, 2025 Posted March 27, 2025 OK, if you play the same thing again a second time, how does it compare the second time?
mateusfn 0 Posted March 27, 2025 Author Posted March 27, 2025 When opening a new media, it loads very fast but has the 20 seconds delay to show subtitle. Reopening the media has a +- 10 seconds loading screen but the subtitle automatically shows. embyserver (1).txt
mateusfn 0 Posted March 27, 2025 Author Posted March 27, 2025 Yeah, reopening its insta subtitled. Open first time has a 30sec delay.
mateusfn 0 Posted April 1, 2025 Author Posted April 1, 2025 The error persists. Could have an option to extract all subtitles ? Before set portuguese as default, if I manually select the portuguese subtitle, was instantly appearing.
mateusfn 0 Posted April 9, 2025 Author Posted April 9, 2025 UPDATE : @Luke@Happy2Play In android app the subtitle it's automatically portuguese and very quick, can't reproduce this error. Even entering a new ep. and fowarding a lot, in 2/3 seconds the subtitle is already extracted.

It can just play the embedded subtitles directly, so there's no extraction occurring. Browser video players can't do that.

Oh, okay I was going to test windows app if it happens, but I don't have emby premium... So is a common problem, it's alright, thanks for the help!!
