0balbert 6 Posted March 24, 2025 Posted March 24, 2025 When running the native Android app on my zidoo Z30 PRO-8K Media Player. Some of my Dolby Vision Movies have issues playing. I feel this has to do with DV7 vs DV8. When running native Kodi and I set it for DV compatibility mode that same movie plays. I tried setting Emby to use Zidoo's Video Player and the movie plays but then I loose some Emby functionality
0balbert 6 Posted March 25, 2025 Author Posted March 25, 2025 the movies runs extremely slow. Its on the same server with all me other 4k movies. All just a few movies this effects. As I stated before I had the same issue with Kodi on the Zidoo and when on turned on DV Compatibility mode those movies play with no issue. If I play them using Zidoo Video player either with Emby or with Zidoo software they play with no issues 1
0balbert 6 Posted April 10, 2025 Author Posted April 10, 2025 Also wanted to add if I use NVidia Shield the Movies in Question work fine. Its only when running them in Zidoo. As stated there is only a few movies this seems to effect.
Luke 42077 Posted April 10, 2025 Posted April 10, 2025 Hi there, let's look at an example. Please attach the information requested in how to report a media playback issue. Thanks!
0balbert 6 Posted April 11, 2025 Author Posted April 11, 2025 Please find attached the Server Log Files. Please note that I just moved Emby over to another Server and yes still having the same issues. Two of the movies are 65 and Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters just in case the 2 movies shows in the log file. I did try to run the Movies prior to capturing the log files. embyserver.txt embyserver-63879667200.txt embyserver-63879753600.txt embyserver-63879840000.txt embyserver-63879874022.txt embyserver-63879926400.txt ffmpeg-transcode-09ec7720-4de1-4eff-a40f-c9b860c65c3d_1.txt hardware_detection-63879874201.txt
0balbert 6 Posted May 2, 2025 Author Posted May 2, 2025 All the movies that I am having a problem playing have a Dolby ProfileProfile 7.6 (Bluray)
0balbert 6 Posted May 2, 2025 Author Posted May 2, 2025 (edited) some additional information. I'm using the Emby Android App which also allows me to maintain my library and server from Zidoo. I just now tried the Emby Android TV App which at first seemed to work the movie played but then freezes, then starts and then freezes again. I prefer using the Emby Android app so I went back to it. Also I tried the same thing on my Dune HD 8K and had the same issues with both Apps Edited May 2, 2025 by 0balbert
Vivek91 1 Posted May 7, 2025 Posted May 7, 2025 (edited) I'm facing same issue on my tv when playing dolby vision Profile 7.6 (Bluray). It seems emby is unable to decode the dovi profile 7 and my my case emby does not play hdr version of that file. On my tv although i'm unable to play dv7 but hdr1O works fine, but emby does not fallback to hdr profile for same. Can some confirm if emby support fallback to hdr10 from dv7 Edited May 7, 2025 by Vivek91
ebr 16169 Posted May 7, 2025 Posted May 7, 2025 Hi. As noted, that is a Disc profile so most streaming devices will not play it.
0balbert 6 Posted May 7, 2025 Author Posted May 7, 2025 Kodi has a option "DV Compatibility" which works on my Zidoo and Dune HD 8k. This allows me to run DV7 on these devises. I was hoping a similar option for Emby

Luke 42077 Posted August 20, 2025 Posted August 20, 2025 Hi, please try 3.4.88+ and let us know how things compare: We've added automatic fallbacks directly into the player. No server transcoding or operations required. Please try it out and report your experience. Thanks !
audiom3 11 Posted August 20, 2025 Posted August 20, 2025 (edited) @Lukeuunfortunately, no change in DoVi Profile 7.6 on my Zidoo Z3000 Pro. It plays audio but video plays back in super slow motion. No idea if DoVi is being output/displayed because the video won't lock on long enough to test. Edited August 20, 2025 by audiom3
audiom3 11 Posted August 20, 2025 Posted August 20, 2025 (edited) @LukeI just wanted to add that I have the 'native' Zidoo/Emby app as well as the Emby Android and Android TV apps side-loaded on my Z3000. The Android TV app falls back to HDR perfectly, but it transcodes Dolby TrueHD to AC3. The native Zidoo player (which unfortunately sucks) plays audio/ DV 7.6 video perfectly. So it's not a hardware issue in the case of Zidoo. Edited August 20, 2025 by audiom3
0balbert 6 Posted August 20, 2025 Author Posted August 20, 2025 I also tested and I see no change. Plays back extremely slow
Luke 42077 Posted September 16, 2025 Posted September 16, 2025 Hi, please try 3.5.02+ and let us know how things compare: Please try it out and report your experience. Thanks !
audiom3 11 Posted Tuesday at 04:19 PM Posted Tuesday at 04:19 PM (edited) @Lukesorry for the delay, no change even with latest Android app (3.5.28 I think?) side-loaded onto the Zidoo Z3000 Pro. Samples (4k mkv rips) which replicate the issue: The Mandalorian S3 and The Last of Us S2. Both contain DV Profile 7.6. Lately, I have been trying to work with your plug-in on Kodi. As much as I have always despised Kodi, their player seems endlessly tweakable. It is significantly better via Emby for Kodi NG than Emby's stand-alone app, but I still get judder with The Last of Us S2E01. Roughly ~20 seconds in and gets really bad on the giraffe scene maybe 1 min in. Edited Tuesday at 04:19 PM by audiom3
0balbert 6 Posted Tuesday at 04:53 PM Author Posted Tuesday at 04:53 PM I'm still having the issue as well two of the movies that I test with is Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters and the movie 65 both contain DV Profile 7.6
Luke 42077 Posted Wednesday at 06:37 AM Posted Wednesday at 06:37 AM OK we'll take another look at it. Thanks.
