JohnSnow77 0 Posted March 23, 2025 Posted March 23, 2025 **Issue:** After updating the app on my LG TV, videos stopped playing. I am trying to play videos using `.strm` links. The links are not working properly and are playable. The video is a 10-bit file, and I have also tried other videos. Before updating the app, videos played smoothly, but now they do not. However, the same videos play smoothly on other devices. Please fix this issue as soon as possible. --- **Additional Information:** I have attached two screenshots of the same `.strm` file: 1. One screenshot is from the LG TV, where the video is not playing. 2. The other screenshot is from a mobile device, where the video plays smoothly.
visproduction 315 Posted March 23, 2025 Posted March 23, 2025 JS, Check this list. https://www.lg.com/ca_en/support/product-support/troubleshoot/help-library/cs-CT20098005-20150291407535/ Often, particular TV's have limited playback codecs that they can handle. Software players are given many more codecs that they can play. The process of playback with Emby, so far as I understand, is the end playback hardware needs to be able to playback or be identified as needing a different codec. Then Emby transcodes the video and / or audio so the TV can plays what it can support. I think the failure to play could be that the TV is not identifying correctly that it needs transcoding. Perhaps the video signal jumps through some TV plug in and that causes some issue. Perhaps Emby starts to transcode and the original media file has corrupted data so it cannot transcode correctly. Perhaps the Emby server takes a long to convert, because the media is so large and something times out resulting in the TV alert. There are a few other possibilities. Playing back on another software player, doesn't really tell us much. Any of the above issues can still be valid. First check if the TV can take your media codec type. Hope that helps.
Luke 42077 Posted March 24, 2025 Posted March 24, 2025 @JohnSnow77 Hi there, let's look at an example. Please attach the information requested in how to report a media playback issue. Thanks!
